Bombing Of Hiroshima And Nagasaki
The Atomic Bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki
This is my in depth research on the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, or also called the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. These are some unknown facts and details about the bombing of Hiroshima and how it affected the people that live there. This bombing had brought an end to World War Two. But it didn't end just like that, it took a little bit of time. To start this off, the first bomb that was first dropped in Hiroshima was called little boy, and it killed somewhere between 90-106 thousand civilians, but it would have killed more if it had landed where it originally was intended to hit. It was off target because the plane was running out of fuel and it would not have made it to the original location, so it had to drop it beside the mountain range. So the mountain range blocked most of the blast. The second bomb that was dropped in Nagasaki was called fat man because it was obviously much bigger than little boy and had a bigger blast radius. Fat man was dropped four days after little boy was dropped in Hiroshima. Another was dropped because they didn't surrender or call a truce to

A couple days after each bomb was dropped they attended church as a normal event even though it was burned down. Everyone showed up as normal...I find that unthinkable and borderline insane.

In my second paragraph I explained how it ended “World War Two”.
My third paragraph described what happened to the civilians that survived and also that didn't survive.
My fourth paragraph stated how dedicated the townspeople were to their religion and the disturbing reality of those moments.

The atomic bomb is the subject of much controversy. The original desire of the United States government when they dropped Little Boy and Fat Man on Hiroshima and Nagasaki was not, in fact, the one more commonly known: that the two nuclear devices dropped upon Hiroshima and Nagasaki were detonated with the intention of bringing an end to the war with Japan, but instead to intimidate the Soviet Union. The fact of Japan's imminent defeat, the undeniable truth that relations with Russia were deteriorating, and competition for the division of Europe prove this without question.…

At 8.15am and at a height of around 2,000ft the bomb exploded above Hiroshima, taking 140,000 lives with it. Most of the 140,000 died instantly, horrifyingly the rest of the innocent civilians that were not in direct contact with the bomb died painful deaths in the four months following. They died from radiation sickness and different types of cancers.…

Hiroshima and Nagasaki are two towns in southern Japan. Nagasaki, at the time, had the largest seaport in southern Japan and it had a reputation for its industrial activity. Hiroshima, however, had military significance with defense camps and army headquarters situated there. To American officials these two towns were perfect for weakening a country’s military system and morale. The ‘Little Boy’ atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima on the 6th of august 1945. The second bomb, ‘Fat Man’, was released on Nagasaki on the 9th of August 1945. The attack on the city of Nagasaki was a surprise because US officials had actually wanted ‘Fat Man’ to drop on the city of Kokura. Nagasaki was the second option for the aircrew who were forced to drop the bomb on another city2.…

On the morning of July 16th, 1945 the first successful detonation of an atomic bomb was recorded at White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico. The explosion from the blast yielded more power than twenty thousand tons of TNT and could be seen at a distance greater than two hundred miles away. (Atomic Bomb-Truman Press Release) Later that month President Truman met with other Allied commanders in Potsdam, Germany to negotiate terms that would put an end to the Second World War. During the conference, the Allies declared that Japan must unconditionally surrender and they released the “Potsdam Declaration” which threatened Japan with “prompt and utter destruction” if it did not do so. (The Potsdam Conference, 1945) Japan rejected the declaration which led Truman to authorize the use of atomic weapons. On the morning of August 6th, 1945 the a-bomb nicknamed Littleboy was dropped on Hiroshima. Seventy thousand lives were lost in a blinding flash of light and heat. Japan still would not surrender. A few days later on August 9th, 1945 the second bomb, Fat Man, was dropped on Nagasaki killing over twenty thousand instantly. Twenty thousand more would die in the following weeks due to radiation exposure. (Atomic Bomb-Truman Press Release)…
