Boat Ride
Boats Are Fun! Essay
May 24, 2012 by flanaganj

You can do a lot of fun stuff on a boat like having a party on it, or going at dawn and seeing the sun and its beauty. Or, you could try jumping off the sides of it! But… the most fun thing about boats are that it can pull you behind the boat and go really fast! Below are more stories about my times on a boat. Boats are so much fun!

Everyone should go tubing.Tubing is fun because you get towed behind the boat and go really fast. If you wanted to go out of the wake, you could get flung off by it!! But you don’t get hurt at all, in fact, you could start laughing. One time I went to my friend’s second house on lake Sunapee in New Hampshire. The day I went tubing was sooooooo much fun! My friend, my brother and I, were on the tube and it jumped like 10 feet in the air!!! Then went straight down and went under water! I held my breath… but I couldn’t hold on any longer and fell off. I floated up because I had a life fest on.

You feel free on a boat. The wind is blowing against your face in the middle of the ocean or lake. But where you feel free the most on a boat is in the middle of the ocean. One time in Florida I went on a boat ride with my family to look at real estate stuff. It wasn’t fun at all, the most fun part of the trip was the little boat ride with my driving it. I could feel the choppiness of the waves hit against the boat. There was lots of wind blowing against my face I didn’t feel sweaty anymore, I felt cool.

The most fun thing about going boating is… going really fast!!! I like going really fast, some people don’t. That’s all right because going fast on a boat is scary in the beginning because you feel like the boat is going to tip over! One time in New Hampshire my family and I went to our friends house and when we got there we went put on our bathing suits because it was a nice hot summer day. They lived on a lake, so why not swim? They had a boat, so we decided to go on a boat ride! When we

I have always loved going to the lake, but this time was a little bit different, we had a boat. It wasn’t a very big boat, but it was big enough to put a smile on my face. Not only did we have a boat, but we had a tube as well. Every other year I was told I wasn’t allowed to go in the tube; but after repetitive asking to ride in it my Dad finally said yes.…

When Goodie arrived and the wind was strong my friend Gena and I would ask to go on the hobie cat and of course my brother Bertram and his friend Jake would too. So it was set, we were all going on the Hobie together. When Gena and I had our life jackets on and Jake and Bertram got on the boat, we were set Goodie started by asking us if we wanted to go on the trapeze (a wire that holds you up by a special harness) and of course we did. While Gena went on while Bertram, Jake and Goodie managed the boat below. Gena and I thought it would be fun to see how long each of us could stay on the pontoons. Gena was technically cheating because she can balance well and I'm not as graceful.. But the real trouble happened when my pontoon started going a few inches under water. I was so freaked out that I started moving forward to get away from the water but that made it worse. Now the front of the boat was tipping. I was so scared. Gena was on my left laughing her butt off.…

Well I went for a weekend she stayed a whole week. But I had a really fun experience because it was my first time tubing and my first time being in an actual boat and not a cruise boat. When me and my friend were tubing we would sing songs the whole time and argue about leg room on the tube and eventually push each other off because of the silly arguments. We stayed w1ith her family friends and they made amazing food everyday and they were all so nice. Almost every day me and Lynne would walk up to the store and get a loaf of bread and a coke or ice cream or whatever sounded good at the time and go to the end of the dock and feed the ducks. We named all of them but only remembered this all black duck with a white beak and we named him Castiel after her favorite character in Supernatural. Then we would just start naming the ducks, fish and other animals that we saw after people from our favorite shows. Like I was naming ducks after people in orange is the new black and american horror story. I had a really fun time but there were also some scary times too, we saw a rope swing and one of the family friends were on it and jumped off and his foot became stuck in the hole in the bottom and couldn't get off for a while. Then the next day his friend fell while getting off the boat and their tube came loose. But even with the downfalls in the trip, I still had a fun time with my best friend and it has…

One of the many activities available is tubing. To tube, you get on a round raft type of object and you sit in the middle of it and ride down the river. You can see all the beautiful things around you, such as the trees, the little islands and the wildlife on the sides of the river. The trees are a brilliant green all summer and in spring they bloom with lovely white and pink colors. In autumn, they turn a bright red, yellow, and orange, lighting up the river. Some islands look eerie in winter because it is hard to see through all the branches and trees, giving the island a dark, spooky look. Other islands look warm and inviting, beckoning you in with their luscious branches full of different colored leaves. The wildlife looks beautiful, sometimes family of deer are visible; you can usually see one or two yearlings with their mother. Other times you can see chunky little groundhogs, usually during spring time. To see the groundhogs, you have to pay attention minutely because they are usually undistinguished among all the trees and the ground. Kayaking and canoeing are other options, which are both just as entertaining as tubing except they are more serene. You can put your hands in the river and sometimes feel the scaly fish rub up against your hand.…

    Great Wolf Lodge Weekend

We spent most of the weekend at the indoor water park. There were two different slides where all four of us could ride in one raft. My favorite ride was the Howlin’ Tornado, which dropped riders into a six-story funnel in the beginning. Once you are through the funnel, it throws you back and forth up thirty feet on each side while spinning you around in circles. It was a real rush! We all enjoyed the Slap Tail Pond wave pool, which had three-foot waves every few minutes. We rode the waves on a tube for part of the time and then relaxed in the edge of the water the rest of the time. Fort Mackenzie was a neat four-story interactive tree house with two smaller twin slides called Totem Towers on one side. At the very top of the Totem Towers, there was a giant bucket that filled up with water nonstop. Once the bucket was full, it would dump 1000 gallons of water over the entire tree house and everyone around it. There was so much water spraying from every direction that it was impossible not to get drenched. It was fun and exciting to anticipate when the bucket would empty again.…

In the early morning I would go fishing with my older sister Megan, her being a little squeamish I had to bait all of her hooks and help throw back her fish. However, in all of our family photos she was portrayed as some kind of brave fisherwoman holding her catch triumphantly. In the evenings my grandma would rally us all to go on a “lazy river ride” we would attach every floating object to the motorboat and float down the lake while my grandpa acted as Captain. I’m positive it looked ridiculous to the neighbors. I remember sitting and expecting more excitement, fidgeting with the lack of speed that I was accustomed to when normally tied to the back of a boat. My grandmother looked at me and reminded me that it was important to “slow down, just relax and to live each…

In “The Boat” by Alistair Macleod, the boat, and the ill-fitting clothes he wore significantly represent the confinement and the father’s inability to break free from tradition, reinforcing that tradition can suppress one’s dream for greater things. To begin, the boat itself is a symbol of the fathers bounding to the sea, showing his obligation to follow customs. The boat is categorize with a “marine clutch and a high speed reverse gear and was painted on an oblong plate across her stern. Jenny Lynn had been my mother’s maiden name and the boat was called after her as another link in the chain of tradition”(Macleod 3) The high speed reverse gear depicts how the father is not moving forward along with the light green name of Jenny Lynn that demonstrates the father’s sacrifice for the fishing custom to support his family. The Jenny Lynn that he receives through tradition gives him a constant reminder that his way of life may never change and that his dreams are out of his reach. Furthermore, the clothing in his closet symbolizes the father’s imprisonment with tradition. The narrator mentions “his ill-fitted serge suit, the two or three white shirts that strangled him and the square black shoes that pinched” (Macleod 4) The square black shoes that pinched him means that the life of fishing that he inherits does not fit, the life he lives is simply to overpowering that it damages him. The white shirts that suffocates him shows the struggles he faces everyday that he is unable to separate from. His attire is so inflexible that it was leaving him trapped in one place incapable to grasp his own desires. Lastly, at the father’s death his departure speculates that it is suicide to liberate his son and himself from an unhappy future bringing the fishing tradition with him. When the father’s body is discovered “the white green stubble of his whiskers had continued to grow in death. Physically as he lay there with the brass chains on his wrist and seaweed in his hair”(Macleod…

Sailing is one of the only things that I have done since I was little. Ballet, I did that for a while, and then skipped that. My obsession with fashion designing, however, definitely grew out of it. Dora the Explorer, well, it would be weird if I still liked that. We still sail, and I had always heard adrenalin rushing stories of adventure on sailing trips or racing. I never thought I would live one of those, especially without my parents and even weirder, on a girl scout camping trip. Anyone who has been a part of Girl Scouts, knows that there is a safety rule for EVERYTHING. There are a safety rules for the safety rules, which is why my parents let me be a part of the trip with seven girls and a captain I and my parents had never met before.…

Big Mable is a red and yellow tube that can hold up to 4 people, we can fit 5 little kids on it though. It is like a chair with a backrest and a bunch of handles. Not easy to flip and has never been flipped before this camping trip. We all hopped on the tube, our order from left to right was Alex, me, Kinsey and Lauren. After we got our life jackets on over our 2 piece swimming suits we kicked our sandals off and hopped on the tube. When the water got deep enough we stuck our thumbs in the air and leaned back and waited for Don to gun it. Before we knew it we were on our way clueless about what we had in store. Everything was going fine and we were all screaming at every little turn to make everything more fun. Then, I made a mistake, I did waves with my hand for the watcher to tell the driver I wanted bumps. He just laughed and told the driver to hit…

A trip to the ocean can be a relaxing escape from the everyday pressures of life. A sailboat glistening on the horizon provides a mental escape to faraway places. The rhythm of the ocean beating against the sand is sedating music to a troubled mind. A slow, gentle breeze can relax your tensions. You should always be careful to avoid overexposure to the sun at the beach.…
