Board Exams to Be Banned
EXAMS! ‘Exams’ is the word that most students fear off. Exam is a part of school life that all students have to go through. There are advantages of having exams in school. But there are people who think that exams give more disadvantages to the students than advantages. Some people say that exams should be abolished because they encourage cramming, I believe that they should not be abolished because exams are the only way for teachers to get feedback from their students, build high moral standards of discipline and give pressure that will be later useful in their life.

The approach of present examination systems means the beginning of fear, tension, anxiety and stress in the minds of the students under which if a student doesn't perform according to his/her parents expectations may lead to students even taking the extreme step of ending their life by doing suicide. The pressure of performing well is so much that if the student has not studied up to the required standards, he/she even sometimes uses unfair means in the examination hall to copy from a near sitting intelligent student and get good marks.

Some people also think that exams are not a reliable test of gauging the ability of the students as luck plays a major role.

The board examination system encourages cramming, unnecessary expenditure on help-books and also encourages private tuition, which has resulted in mushrooming of a large number of tuition shops in every city and even small towns by inexperienced people.
The board examination system doesn't specify the exact criteria for how the marks are given to students.

It is impossible to test every aspect of a subject within the short exam time.
Even though, exam causes pressure to the students, the exams should not be abolished. This is because if we look at it from the positive side there are some good values in the pressure given by them.

The board examination system has its own benefits. Exams make students better at the subject.

Examinations have given students the drive to study. As many parents expect their children to pass with flying colours during examinations, they usually will push them to study, hoping that by doing so they will get good grades. Sending them to tuition classes or even taking time off work to help them with their studies are ways parents will push them to work hard. As many parents always tell their children, “getting good grades will get you a good job”. By doing so, students will have to put in effort into their studies and do frequent revision which helps them to understand better. Should examinations be abolished, students will not be motivated to study and do revision. Without revision, there is no point in having classes as one will not learn and remember everything being taught. Students will then laze around and waste unnecessary time which could have been used for revision which will be beneficial to them.…
