Part I: Company Description & Organizational Structure
Elegance Recycled is an elegant gown and formal attire rental shop located in Hong Kong, China. Traditionally, gowns of this type were bought and never rented. Currently, there is no place like Elegance Recycled where dresses or gowns to a formal event can be rented in China. As disposable income continues to decline, everyone is always looking for innovative, reasonable and practical options to save money when it comes to spendthrift occasions.
Elegance Recycled would be located in Hong Kong Island South that contains, “relentless concrete and steel towers…,and offers sweeping scenery and majestic views” This area is also an enclave of Hong Kong’s wealthy who would be more susceptible to needing such merchandise.
Furthermore, for occasions such as weddings, bridesmaids rarely wear their dresses again which will begin take up closet and storage space to store such gowns that will never see the light of day again. As a result, Elegance Recycled can cater to your formal and elegant needs that are environmentally efficient and cost effective. No more storage fees for outdated wedding gowns and minimal storage space for a growing family to house old gowns. Elegance Recycled will offer an assortment of dresses, gowns and accessories that can be tailored to the needs of your event. We offer pricing that will include quality merchandise at sensible fees as well as the option to purchase the gown that you rented.
The organizational structure would consist of the Chief Executive Officer above the Sales and Marketing Director, Accounting and Finance Director, and Production and Inventory Director. Below these positions would be managers that would assist directors in achieving organizational goals. Mangers will manage employees such as Cashiers and Gown Specialists.

The two articles, Double Standards: Mexico Business and Business Ethics in China, brought an insight into ethics practiced in foreign countries, specifically the countries of China and Mexico. The United States of America has its own regulations and traditions that may, and have, conflicted, in an organizational setting, with the cultures and thoughts of their foreign partners. These “differences” in cultural beliefs or standards are evident in both articles, but the evidence that Globalization is an increasing desire for organizations is apparent as well. One article displays that in order to have success within a foreign country than we should allow natives of that country dictate the business ethical guidelines within that foreign office or division while the other article shows that a country is visibly being hypocritical of their own accepted guidelines and policies by saying one thing and doing the other. A different continent is not the only differences that Mexico and China are sharing. Both articles suggest accepting or understanding that certain business practices or ethics in these two countries as different but not necessary illegal. It also suggest that the entire core of an organization must stand firm on certain practices and not have to adjust for profitable business in a country as well. Though differences are evident amongst other…

It is interesting to see how the habit of recycling clothes has suffered such a transformation in the last decades. It used to come with a certain feeling of shame as it used to be a social marker for poverty. (Veblen, 1899). But in recent years, particularly young people have tapped into this niche market and rummaged through to find good bargains. This practice can be observed all over the world; vintage shops and charity shops can be found in every city.…

For my Final Major Project I decided to create a marketing/PR campaign around the launch of a new fashion label consisting of posters, magazine adverts and give-aways. I thought that just creating a normal women’s clothing range would be too easy, so I decided I would create a brand which creates clothes made entirely of recycled materials. I started off by looking at fashion designers whose clothes were eco-friendly/recyclable: Katharine Hamnett; Stella McCartney; Gary Harvey etc. I found their work really inspirational and a good springboard for me to develop my ideas.…

¶ The case study is titled Google Inc., In china, written by Kirsten E. Martin for the Business Roundtable Institute for Corporate Ethics. Kirsten Martin is the Assistant Professor of Business and Economics at the Catholic University of America and Business Roundtable Institute for Corporate Ethics Fellow, “to encourage classroom discussion and not to illustrate effective or ineffective business decision making”. Kirsten is an academic, whose purpose is to examine ethical decisions and behavior in business, creating a bias to enhance the ethical situations related to business practice. The Catholic University was established in 1887 and is located in Washington D.C. Its values are more conservative, and emphasize charity and community-based values, as the Catholic Church is a strong proponent of helping the community. Also, being located in D.C. it is likely biased to be much more politically involved and influenced by the location. Her background in economics may also lead itself to bias assessing how Google could do greater good for the economy through their business, making her ethical evaluation more stringent. Her involvement with the Business Roundtable and more specifically their Institute for Corporate Ethics illustrates her belief that corporations have an obligation to be good citizens: morally, environmentally, and be proactively ethical. She would need to have complete knowledge of the major business environment differences in China to evaluate the ethical standards of their society without prejudice as well. She also likely lacks real world experience of operating a business as large as Google, and the pressures to manage all of the stakeholders needs; including…

Santa Clara University printed an article penned by Stephen Rothlin called “Business Ethics in the Chinese Context” that thrashed out some of the growth China achieved in 2006 and 2007 in business ethics. Stephen Rothlin works as the general secretary of the Center for International Business Ethics in Beijing. n January 2008, Rothlin modernized the Markkula Center for Applied Ethics business and Organizational Ethics Partnership with the growth he had seen since his last trip in 2006. Rothlin thrashed out six types including; conditions for oral companies, community role, ecological sustainability, anti-corruption action, and customer privileges. In each of the six types he discussed both developments seen as well as suggested fields which required concentration for progress (Business Ethics in the Chinese Context, 2008). China’s work standards and employee privileges have progressed through the improvement of their Labor Contract Law which now defends China’s longtime workers from being dismissed from a job without particular…
