I think that if the company expects to see an increase in sales, that they must make sure that their advertising budget reflects this. The company has only increased their advertising budget by $984. They really should have increased this budget by a bit more if they were really hoping on increasing their sales. In their most successful year (year 7), Competition spent $32,760 on advertising. This dropped to $27,428 the next year. If we only increase the budget by $984, you can only expect minimal increases of sales as a result.…

Firstly, Alejandro’s team members did not view him as an authentic leader. They had no respect for or confidence in him probably because they sensed his self doubt so they disregarded his plan and did not pay attention. Secondly, Dan answered his phone and left for his weekly tennis game which everyone seemed to know about except Alejandro. As soon as the other team members saw that Dan wasn’t interested enough to participate in the meeting, they also lost all interest and followed through with the disrespect because they viewed Alejandro’s plan as just another idea so they began to come up with a plan of their own. Alejandro’s first mistake was that he had no confidence in himself. For example, when Dan initially assigns him with the task, he began to doubt himself and questions the reasons why Dan chose him rather than the “old hands” with more experience. This shows that he wasn’t aware of his strengths and weaknesses so he was unable to present his plan effectively and confidently. Additionally, Alejandro failed to get the other managers involved in his plan to help motivate the other team members.…

There have been many cases on freedom of speech and public places. The first Amendment of the Bill of Rights provides that “Congress shall make no law abridging the right of the people peaceably to assemble. Rights to free speech and assembly are not absolute under the relevant Jurisprudence. Tiffany has decided to sell direct in Japan as opposed to selling wholesale to Mitsukoshi and Mitsukoshi selling to the public. In this agreement Tiffany will give Mitsukoshi 27% of net retail sales in exchange for providing the boutique facilities, sales staff, collection of receivables, and security for store inventory. This new agreement exposes Tiffany to the fluctuation in the yen-dollar exchange rate. Therefore, they are considering two basic hedging alternatives to reduce exchange-rate risk on their yen cash flows. The first alternative was to sell yen for dollars at a predetermined price in the future using a forward contract. The second alternative was to purchase a yen put option allowing them to exercise their option only if it was more profitable in the future at the future spot rate. Two more alternatives that we think are appropriate are a synthetic forward using options and a synthetic forward using interest rate parity. Furthermore, Tiffany needs to understand the hedging alternatives and determine what, if any, strategy is right for them.…
