Bloomington Vs Wabash College Essay

Nelson Mandela once said: “An education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” This quote profoundly reflected the attitude displayed by myself in my college selection search. I eventually narrowed my selection down to Indiana University Bloomington and Wabash College as a result of these two stellar college’s history of high scholastic achievement. While these two academic institutions share some characteristics in common, their differences in composition, academic programs, price, and credit transfer services were enough for me to chose one over the other.

Comparing the difference composition of students at IU Bloomington and Wabash College would be like comparing night to day. Indiana University is a public college of immense size, as a total of 36,419 male and female students make up the total enrollment in Bloomington, IN that has a total population of 83,322 people. That is a lot of people in comparison to living in a small town such as Tell City, where only a little over 7,000 people reside. In stark contrast, Wabash College, a private college located in Crawfordsville, IN that has a population of 15,914 people only has a total enrollment of 910 students. Wabash College offers twenty-four different undergraduate programs. These programs are pretty standard majors that you would find at most undergraduate colleges like political science, English, biology, etc. except they do not offer a business major. On the other hand, Indiana University has approximately 214 undergraduate programs that vary from the oboe to public policy analysis. IU Bloomington offers a lot more choices in majors than Wabash
