Black Blue And All Lives Matter Narrative
I had a very deep and interesting convo with a nice American Caucasian couple today at my job about the events taking place in the US with "Black, Blue and All Lives Matter".
I gave them perspectives of my life as a young black man in America and also my life as police officer.
I recalled driving home numerous times after work in full police uniform in my 1995 Chevy Caprice getting pulled over by cops apparently because of my vehicle preference.
I stated that the policemen were all unaware that they were about to be pull over another officer. Each time I was stopped I was given reasons that ranged from the dealer advert border around my license plate needing to be removed by one officer and that my license plate light bulb was out by a different

Early in the morning, on October 5th 2002, five Edmonton Police officers, including Constable (Cst.) A. Normand (No. 1809), Cst. P. Blais (No. 1900), Cst. R. Sparreboom (No. 2309), Cst. R. Foote (Resigned) and Cst. Mike Wasylyshen responded to a complaint of an attempted car theft on Abbosttfield road. When the officers arrived on scene they immediately demanded that the four occupants exit the vehicle, without first running a licence plate search (Edmonton sun, 2012). Three of the four occupants exited the vehicle leaving only Randy Fryingpan left asleep on the backseat (Edmonton Sun, 2012). Randy Fryingpan had been unresponsive to Constable Mike Wasylyshen’s demands to exit the vehicle as a result of alcohol consumption. Cst. M. Wasylyshen decided to Taser Randy…

When police have encounters with suspects there are legal justifications that are required during those encounters as well as determining the potential for criminal evidence. In this particular case study, officer Smith has noticed a vehicle that has what seems to be a broken tail light, therefore pulls over the vehicle. The fact that the car has a possible broken tail light is enough to pull the vehicle over, a simple whats called in most states a correctable violation, typically resulting in a ticket or a certain amount of days to get it fixed. Therefore I believe that officer Smith had a legitimate reason to pull the vehicle over, however I do not believe he had reasonable suspicion until he started to approach the car.…

In “Why Black Lives Matter Resonates” Leonard Pitts states his belief that Martin Luther King Jr. would be happy with the “Black Lives Matter” campaign because it is beneficial for African-Americans. Pitts writes about the counter campaign, “All Lives Matter,” as being a disgrace to the civil rights movement, and concurring that Martin Luther King Jr. wouldn’t be a part of it. I cannot agree with Leonard Pitts’ conclusion that King would be completely for “Black Lives Matter” and not completely for “All Lives Matter” because I believe if King were here today he would be advocating for equality of all people.…

I stop. He goes through; I pull up and come to a complete stop again. I put on my blinker, allow pedestrians to cross, and also notice the officer ahead slowing down. I make my right hand turn and pull into the police station parking lot, thinking back to the advice of the Mayor to stay off the side streets and the advice of anyone I’ve talked to, to stay away from police cars. At this point I am unaware that the PO turned around and followed me into the parking lot until he put on his lights. I was told the stop was for my tints. He then accused me of driving suspiciously because I made a turn and asked if I was trying to avoid him. I said no. He asked if I had ever been arrested before, to which I said yes. He returned to his car, another officer arrived. I’m then approached again by the initial officer, asked to step out of my car, and then asked to search. I did not consent. The other officer begins walking around my car and poking his head into my windows. Again, the PO said he would call the dogs if I didn’t let him search my car. I was detained for over an hour this time; issued 3 tickets: safety glasses, visibility/lights, and failure to give proper signal. That same day I called (twice) to submit my complaint (again) for over aggressive ticketing and searches by LBT officers, and that I felt I was being harassed by the police department. I spoke with a sergeant, who told me they would look into the matter and get back to me. No one ever called…

What has helped me better understand or relate to others in ways that I may have not in the past was probably during a crucial time in America, and that was 9/11. Many people had a hard time liking Muslims and I didn’t quite understand. I gradually figured out that because some Muslims are bad doesn’t mean that all Muslims are bad. I have grown a respect for Muslims and for other races. As an African American, I have not learned anything new about my family or our culture. What I have realized is that I hear about African American leaders, and people who have stood up for their race. I feel honored at times to be who I am, I don’t neglect my race at all, and I embrace it.…

To maintain a free society and prosper within our American version, peaceful resistance to laws made by our legislative government are imperative not only to uphold our nation's Constitution but to the people's unalienable right to free speech. The American Republic was conceived in revolution and resistance to legislature. A plethora of the original framers of the Constitution were soldiers and essential leaders of the American Revolution; these citizens fought for our new Republic during the war and absorbed its political ideology. The Declaration of Independence, brought to life by Thomas Jefferson, said that the document was simply an "expansion of the American mind." He wrote that it is the "Right of the people to alter or abolish" any government, and institute a new one that would better secure their safety and happiness, which alludes to a positively-impacted free society we now take pride in today.…

At Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana there has been protests about the Black Lives Matter movement. The Black Lives Matter movement “is a chapter-based national organization working for the validity of Black life” (Haki). The Black Lives Matter movement began in 2012. This movement is important because it is about equality. Equality is important because every life matters. The point of the Black Lives Matter movement is to show that one life does not matter more than another and that black lives just need some help and attention from everyone. So, to solve this controversy I am proposing raising awareness and small weekly meetings about the Black Lives Matter movement.…

Growing up I was the most naive child around. I thought the world was full of sunshine and rainbows and that everyone was nice to one another. My parents raised me to remember the three b’s: be nice, be respectful and behave. They told me I could be whatever I wanted to be and I believed that for a very long time until I hit middle school. I didn't know I was different. I didn't see a difference between myself and the other kids but in fact, I am a minority. I didn't know that race was a thing until we took one month out of the nine in which school was in session and learned about slavery. That's when I was introduced to the word that haunted my ancestors and will eventually haunt me. The word was a product of hatred that white people made to boost their…

Last summer I went on a mission trip with the church and found myself in West Virginia. We stayed in McDowell County at an old school building, and this is the county we did most of our work in. McDowell County is the poorest county in West Virginia and one of the poorest in the county, with a rate of at least 35% of the population in poverty. The long lasting poverty is why we went there on our trip.…

I will never understand what it is like to be a young African American male. So learning through this young mans experince was very benefical for me. When lookig at what I learned about others I relaized there are so many problems in the world that I will never experince, but I like to informaed of them. I also learned about how wrong some officers are willing to use their power to put others down. I hate hearing that officers are bad, but it is important to learn from their mistakes and see what I should not do ( I know I would never be racisit towards someone but their interaction was a good learning…

His license plates were a couple of weeks out of date, which is a definite reason to be pulled over. The officer was driving in the lane next to us but slightly behind. The county sheriff deputy police cruisers are equipped with cameras that read every license plate it sees so I’m sure the fact that they were expired flashed on his display. Instead of getting behind us and pulling us over, he accelerated past us, looked into our vehicle then slowed to get behind us and on came his lights. I truly believe if we were not two youngish black guys he would’ve keep going. During the traffic stop, the deputy asked me for my identification, which I feel is odd because most of the times I get pulled over, 3-6 times a year, my wife is with me and she has never been asked to furnish ID. His goal was to see if I had warrant(s) so he could get an…
