My Sigma Chi Creed A lot is required from someone to be considered a gentleman but it is not hard to posses all of those things. I aspire to be of a character that embodies a gentleman and goes beyond those parameters so that I both respect everyone and am respected by everyone. I aim to become man of Sigma Chi who not only embodies the ideal of the fraternity but can give back and add on to the code by which members of the fraternity live there lives each and everyday. For it is a gift to be part of such an organization of Sigma Chi and thus I must work to better myself to embody Sigma Chi in both character and person. In order to accomplish this I must live everyday with honesty, fairness, respect and so much more. I must exemplify these ideals in every manner of myself; whether it be in school, in sports, in my fraternity or daily correspondences I must uphold these ideals. That means holding the door open for any women, having academic integrity, treating others as I wish to be treated, giving any opinion despite my own beliefs the respect it deserves and also that I will conduct myself, in the presence of others, in a respectable, appropriate way at all times. But more importantly, I will exhibit all of these traits when no one is looking because that is when the true test of character comes into play. It is one thing to act as a gentleman when others are looking but another when you know no one will know or give credit to you for your actions in a certain situation. I will make the right choice in such situations for as I said, I aspire to be a Sigma Chi and that means that in no instance are these morals and values ever not supposed to be represented and professed by my own character and actions. I will do my part to exemplify this creed in Sigma Chi and my own life.

    ATP is generated from aerobic respiration from the use of biosynthetic pathways. Glycolysis is where respiration starts in the cells and produces ATP, NADH, and 2 pyruvate molecules from the oxidation of six carbon carbohydrate and glucose. Even if oxygen is there or not, enzymes are mediated in the cytoplasm. The electron transport chain, chemiosmosis, and aerobic respiration use NADH molecule (which it main purpose is to transport electrons form one molecule to another) for later purposes. The mitochondrial matrix receives pyruvate from the cytoplasm after it crosses over the mitochondrial membrane. When the pyruvate enters the Krebs cycle it goes through many stages of biochemical enzyme-catalyzed reactions. In more detail about the cycle its main purpose is to produce little amounts of ATP by removing carbon dioxide and hydrogen from pyruvate molecules. Within the inner membrane of the mitochondrion the electron transport chain and chemiosmosis synthesis ATP with hydrogen ions which are NADH and FADH2. The Krebs cycle and glycolysis produce less ATP because chemiosmosis synthesizes a great amount of ATP.…

    This experiment was used to explore the Theory of Evolution created by Charles Darwin. The use of natural selection was apparent in the artificial modification of an organism 's traits which aided in this investigation. Through this experiment the Wisconsin Fast Plant was used. It is a fast-growing organism developed to improve the resistance to disease in cruciferous plants. This plant aids scientist in the exploration of environmental effects on population due to the speed to which is matures and reproduces. Artificial selection was stimulated by the selection against plants with few hairs (trichomes). Trichomes create a wider variation meaning it is polygenic. The plants that had only a few trichomes were exterminated and the rest were pollinated to create an F2 generation. This was done in an attempt to increase the number of plants with many hairs in the next generation. It turned out to be a successful use of natural selection due to the decreased amount of bald plants from the F1 generation to the F2 generation. Concerning how the experiment is actually performed, five Wisconsin fast seeds are planted into a cup full of soil and six fertilizer seeds. The seeds are then covered with more dirt and connected to a cup full of water through a wick. The soon to be plant is then placed under light for 24 hours. After this the plants with the highest amount of trichome numbers are found and kept. When flowers are present, the selected plants are cross pollinated with a pollinating stick and from there the plants are monitored and recorded.…

    The environmental movement, addressed in "Rewilding North America" by Caroline Fraser, focuses on the negative outcomes of human activities in the environment. It is a movement that restores the environment that humans have damaged. Scientists have addressed the idea, in "A life of its own" by Michael Specter, of using synthetic biology to mend environmental issues. Synthetic biology combines the "elements of engineering, chemistry, computer science, and molecular biology…to assemble the biological tools necessary to redesign the living world" (Specter 364). There are both positive and negative impacts of a synthetic world on the environment movement. The environmental issues consist pollution, depletion of natural resources, extinction of endangered species, population, protection of natural areas, etc. Synthetic biology can aid some of these issues, but further deteriorate others as well. A way that synthetic biology could potentially enhance the environment is through the creation of "cheap drugs, clean fuels, and new organisms to siphon carbon dioxide from the atmosphere," but only "if the tools of synthetic biology succeeds" (Specter 265). However, some of the processes that the environmental movements undergo contradict with the ideals of synthetic biology. Therefore, moving towards a synthetic world will hinder some of the environmental movements on several issues such as, the usage of money, habitat and animals, nature, animal cruelty, but the anticipated benefits are without a doubt worth the cost.…
