Bilbo A Thief Analysis
I think he was right and wrong to call Bilbo a thief. I feel this way because in beginning since Bilbo did not see Gollum drop the wring, but instead found it on the ground of the cave. It was incorrect for Gollum to call him a thief. Also Bilbo doesn’t know how important the ring is to Gollum and that it was his. Contradicting that, I also felt like it was right for Gollum to call him a thief, because he found it on the ground and he didn’t know who owned the ring, so he should have just left it on the ground. I also felt like it was right for Gollum to call Bilbo a thief because as time passed I feel like Bilbo realized that the ring was Gollum’s but instead of doing the right thing and returning it he decided to keep the ring which was kind

The Book Thief, by Markus Zusak, has caused me to have multiple reactions, to the story, characters, and themes. They have made me feel mad, sad, upset, happy, but most of all surprised; throughout the recent readings every night more gets added to the story and more just surprises me. What completely shocked/surprised me was when Liesel fought back against Ludwig Schmeikl and what followed afterwards. However, there has been far more things than just that, that have surprised me. A couple include Liesel receiving two books for christmas, Hans Junior leaving, and how Rudy has reacted to Liesel throughout the entire passage,…

Bilbo is terrified to go on this adventure but is soon persuaded to go. This story is an epic that states all of the steps of a “hero’s journey”. This passage reminds me of the scene where Napoleon steals the milk and apples from the animals without asking in Animal Farm. Similarly, in The Book Thief, Rudy and Liesel are also stealing vegetables from many farms. However, the reason that Napoleon steals the milk and apples is because of his greed, while Rudy and Liesel are stealing to "extend their thieving repertoire" (Zusak 161). Also, from my interpretation of this passage, I feel that the law enforcements are not strong enough to stop thievery at that time in Germany because, if the law enforcements were powerful, then Rudy and Liesel wouldn't take the risk to extend their thieving…

In the movie Jackson makes Bilbo a hero and a thief when he is trying to get a knife from the trolls to save his ponies. In the in the book Bilbo is trying to steal money from the trolls enormous pocket. Then Bilbo gets exposed and captured by the trolls when he tries to steal money in the troll’s pocket. As evidence, “Then Biblo Plucked up the courage and put his hand in William’s enormous pocket. There was a purse in it, as big as a bag to Biblo ‘Ha’ thought he, warming to his new work as he lifted it carefully out, ‘this is a beginning!’” (Tolkien 36). The trolls have a speaking wallet in the book that makes the trolls look back at Bilbo and this in turn makes the trolls capture Bilbo and the Dwarves. In the movie Jackson makes Biblo a tissue. The trolls wipe their boogers all over Bilbo. They also think Bilbo is a live “squirrel” (Jackson). So the trolls freak out and that makes some audiences laugh. Instead of having a magic wallet talk Jackson has Bilbo stealing a knife which shows his courage given the circumstances. Afterwards, one of the trolls picks Bilbo up and sneezes all over him. Then the troll throws him because the troll thinks Bilbo came out of his nose. This illustrates how the movie is more effective because the humor and the different scenes such as the one shown above or below makes the audience more inclined to see the movie. Also the director gets the exactly right angle of Bilbo and the trolls section that he makes it look ominous and intriguing. The director also uses different lighting, which changes the way that different audiences look at the movie. Therefore, this is also another reason why the movie is more effective than the…

Think of Germany as a heads and tails coin. The book Thief is about a girl named Liesel who lives with her foster parents Hans and Rosa Hubberman. Liesel has a friend named Rudy. They both go around stealing food, but Liesel not only stole food, she stole books. Death (Narrator) was soon fond of Liesel and he then gave her the nick name The Book Thief. This novel is great to understand the other side of Germany. Unlike other stories that talk about Jews, concentration camps, Nazi’s, this novel talks about how a family were not influeced by Nazi propaganda. In addition your see that Germany has two sides to it; one that obeys Hitler, and one that goes against him.…

Whenever it says that Bilbo is on the took side of his family it means that he is like one of his family members that stay at their house and never go on adventures.Usually whenever someone stays at their house they never really learn anything about nature or their surroundings. When someone is not use to there surroundings then that means that they will never know anything about where they could hide from something bad that is trying to kill them or chase them. This is an example of Bilbo Baggins but whenever he went on this adventure it changed him and the things that I will tell about when he came out more often is in chapter 5,chapter 2,and the last example when he finally came out was chapter 1.…

Forty million people a day view Instagram stories, 79% of teenagers use Snapchat once a day, and 51% use it at least eleven times a day. In fact, teenagers use on average five screens a day (Patel, Deep “10 Tips”). This use of social media makes teenagers happier and gives them something to do after school. But is it a problem that young people are finding all this satisfaction in “likes”? All this time spent on social media and screens could end up with a bad outcome and could be bad for their health. Teenagers know screens could cause them to lose sleep, become more anxious, and even stop communicating with the outside world (Schupak, Amanda “Does Technology”). The Book Thief by Markus Zusak has a similar theme. Liesel, the main character…
