According to the official Lilith fair website, the festival is named after the legendary Lilith, who refused to obey Adam and instead bolted from the Garden of Eden to search the Earth for adventure. In 1996, concert promoters and radio stations refused to let two female musicians Sarah McLachlan-a Canadian musician and Paula Cole- an American singer-songwriter touring together because the corporate music community don’t think multiple female musicians have enough talents to convince people buying substantial concert tickets. That really made Sarah McLachlan became frustrated, so she decided to book her own tour with Paula Cole in her home town on September 14, 1996. The first Lilith Fair was born a year later with the cooperation of the Nettwerk Music Group 's Dan Fraser and Terry McBride, and New York talent agent Marty Diamond. Lilith fair earned an unexpected gross income $16 million in the first year and ranked 16th among the year 's Top 100 Tours. It took place during the summers of 1997 to 1999, and was revived in the summer of 2010. Maslow believed that people develop through various levels toward their full potential (Cloninger, 2013). He argued that few reach their full potential. This is, certainly, not the case with Beyonce. She has reached star power and beyond. She has put in the hard work and dedication to fulfill her dreams. Another source indicates that Beyonce has a high level of intelligence and creativity. This is so indicative of her work. Nothing she does is mediocre. Everything that she has attempted has been done with excellence. She puts in long hours and will not stop until it’s perfect. All of her efforts have paid off. A handwriting expert examined a letter that she penned to the first lady. According to the expert, she approaches things in a logical way and she has very healthy self-esteem (Abraham, 2012). I would imagine these healthy attitudes have helped her achieve high levels of success. Since she has already achieved mass success, her next venture would be to attain the respect of others. It appears that she has accomplished that as well. According to Maslow, esteem should be stable and firmly based. I think Beyonce has that covered. Beyonce has reached periods of peak success, which Maslow describes feelings of limitless horizons (Cloninger, 2013). She has broken out of the mold of being mediocre. She has explored every avenue of her creativity and has become spontaneous in operating at full capacity. It is understood what Maslow meant when he said that capacity lies within all of us, but is often lost in many. This is known as displaced…

Before the meeting, I assumed that someone with a stage name like “Lady” (her given name is Stefani Joanne Germanotta) was going to be a bit standoffish—that’s the strategy employed by most nervous young musicians on the occasion of their first real interview, in any case. But I never thought she was going to actually be Lady Gaga. These days, very few artists play the media like Bob Dylan, or stay in character as Devo’s Mark Mothersbaugh did in his early career. In the age of VH1’s Behind the Music, tabloid culture, and reality television, musicians are aware that they should show themselves to journalists in as much mundane detail as they can muster. “But Lady Gaga is my name,” she said, amazed that I would have thought otherwise. “If you…

Upon first hearing Sierra College's motto, “Dream, Learn, Do,” a strong urge to roll one's eyes ought to be suppressed. However, if its initial hokeyness is overlooked, the motto does provide practical significance. True, not all of us will meet out childhood dreams of traveling in space, or walking the red carpet, but how did those who fly to the moon and make summer blockbusters get where they are? The pop singer Lady Gaga has a career most young women would love to emulate. Gaga's success came from her dream to perform, her determination to learn her art, and the practice of that education and perseverance to actually do what she wanted with her life.…
