Better Than Hum Why Robots Will And Must Take Our Jobs
Have you ever wondered about the future? What kind of new technologies and inventions there will be? I know I have and still do wonder about these things all the time. I play out all kinds of different scenarios in my head and think about what the future might be like. But the one question I never really asked myself is what types of jobs will there be in the future? After reading “Better than Human: Why Robots will and Must Take Our Jobs” by Kevin Kelly I really begin to think about what jobs will be gained and lost from robots becoming more advanced and this realization really hit much closer to home then I expected. If our technologies keep advancing at the rate that they are going, then we could see over half of the jobs that exist now disappear (Kelly 300). With that being said these same technologies could also keep on creating new jobs that do not even exist right now (Kelly 304). I will discuss what jobs will be lost and gained by new technology using examples from Kevin Kelly’s piece as will examples from my own personal experiences. These personal examples will also explain why this article really made me think of my own life and my family’s. …show more content…
Kelly first discusses jobs that exist in the present that will be lost due to inventions that having already been made and inventions that are in the process of being made (301). He then goes on to talk about the future of jobs including new jobs that will continue to be created by these robots and new technologies (Kelly 306). The final thing that Kelly talks about is the science behind all of his findings. He does this by providing the reader with information backed up by facts and statistics to prove the validity of the information that he presents (Kelly
