Betrayal In Hamlet
If you have ever been betrayed, you may know how Hamlet felt in William Shakepseare's play Hamlet. To some people betrayal means being dishonest or disloyal, but it may have a different meaning to others. Betrayal is doing something that affects a person in a negative, even life changing way. Dishonesty could be the cause to the negative outcome but the lie would have to be about something very bad. Betrayal and revenge play a big part in Hamlet. Gertrude is the most guilty of betraying Hamlet. First of all, she married the man who killed his father. The play never clarifies whether she knew about the murder before it happened but the idea that she did makes the most sense. Considering how quickly Gertrude got over her husbands death,

His unusual situation prevents him from hurting his mother physically. The ghost of his father made it very clear not to to beat or kill her, but to assault her with words. Obeying the apparition, he attacked her so violently that her guilt will slowly tear her apart. His words should hurt her more than any physical pain could. He has done all that he can for revenge if he's following his father's orders. The rest is up to her mind and what happens on her judgement day. Revenge is common in the world today and careless drivers are likely targets. In China on January 1, 2017, a man blocked a sanitation worker's pick up spot. While he could have gotten violent, like in many other cases, the worker got his revenge in a harmless way. After gathering between 30 and 40 garbage cans, he made a wall that surrounded the vehicle making it almost impossible for the man to drive away. The inconsiderate driver got lucky and was able to leave with an undamaged car. Hamlet is still relevant because of the life lessons and advice that can be found within the play. Students that read Hamlet in high school are starting to prepare for college. In scene iii of Act I, Polonius gave Laertes advice to remember while he was in college. The content of the advice can still be used by students
