Bethel University's Introduction To Adult Learning
In unit 3, of Bethel University's Introduction to Adult Learning course, I read the four steps in Essay Writing. (2017). The fourth step, Write clear, error-free sentences, gives several tips and principles to assist students in their writing. If applied, these tips can help clear up student's writings so they flow smoothly and clearly.

When writing, you should use parallelism to balance out your sentences, making them flow smoothly for the readers. (Bethel, 2017) The entire written work should be done in the same verb tenses. A good way to grasp the reader's attention is to use specific words, not just general terminology. Active verb usage is another way to give energy to your writing. It is always important to be direct; wordy sentences

For the past ten years, I have been involved in the development of Navarro College’s online program. When I arrived at Navarro College in the fall of 2000, we had approximately twelve online course sections, with just a little over 100 students. At the time, Navarro College had a total enrollment of approximately 3,800 students. Today, the online program alone has approximately 3,500 students during the fall and spring semesters out of a total college enrollment of just below 11,000. The growth has been phenomenal, and I am fortunate to have been…

When writing an essay there really is more to it than just writing words down and making sure the words is used correctly. When someone is having thoughts they need to write them down and just go from there. At first it may not be perfect, but the writer can always go back and change the errors that need to be fixed. Before reading this I figured it was going to be about bad writing and one should not worry if it is not perfect. This made me realize that it is not about how you write, but what you write about and how to get your thoughts across.…

The five steps of the writing process are equally vital to the succession of any writing assignment, whether it is for work or school. The five stages include PREWRITING, PLANNING, DRAFTING, REVISING, and PROOFREADING. As our text (Arlov, 2014), explains, “Writing is not a single act, but a process composed of several steps,” (p. 3). Moreover, constructing a strong paper that is well-written (no matter how tedious it seems), requires efficaciously executing all five phases. It is crucial not to take shortcuts by eluding any step of the writing process.…

By utilizing four steps, I can effectively write an essay on the topics assigned during this program (Bethel, 2015). The first step is developing a clear point and is followed by supporting ideas. I plan to use quick notes to get my ideas down and make sure I need them. Next I need to organize my ideas to explain how I arrived at my thesis. Finally, I need to proofread my writing to omit any grammar or writing mistakes. These steps can help my writing be more concise and improve over time.…

According to Schraw and Moshman there are three “Metacognitive Frameworks” that help people build their own learning theories. These would include Tacit, Informal, and Formal. After reading “The Writing Process” in chapter 2, I learned the major aspects to writing a well-developed essay. The methods in developing an essay are: finding a focus, developing a thesis statement, drafting, and editing. Firstly, finding a focus plays a crucial part because when there are many ideas in mind people tend to have trouble focusing on one topic. After settling on a topic, the next step would be to create a thesis statement. The thesis is a statement that relates to all the ideas and the essay should be centered on the statement. Likewise, drafting brings in a lot of ideas for a paper. Drafting essays allows plenty of editing time. While editing essays, one might come across grammatical errors. Identifying errors and correcting them will make the essays sharp and to the point.…
