For my post-secondary schooling, I have been accepted into, and planning to attend, Georgia Southern University. I chose this school for many different reasons, and going to orientation expanded those reasons. Georgia Southern offers many great opportunities for what I want to do in life. The campus is about an hour away from where I currently live, so it is close to home but not too close to home. The professors and staff are friendly and want to see the students succeed and are always ready to help. I could go on and on about why I chose this school, but I believe…

When I first arrived at high school, I was extremely nervous. The school was huge and there was not a familiar face in site. Although I was nervous, staff and students did their best to create a positive learning environment. Going into my sophomore year, I received the same positive energy from the staff and my peers. My guidance counselor, Ms. Hunter, helped me to prepare and offered me the opportunity to enroll in…

One thing that I learned about Ashford University during orientation that will help me tremendously is that even though my classmates aren’t sitting beside me in a physical sense, they are right there when you need to know that you aren’t the only one going through the exact same course. When I had to do the discussion during week two I found many students that had the same feelings as I and I hope that we will be able to help each other in the future, even if its just knowing I am not alone on the way I feel. Another thing that I learned is that through the student portal I can find many helpful tools. I am confident that these tools will help me in the future with my assignments and studies. I am going to spend time going through the different parts of the portal and learn to use the different tools that we have very efficiently. All in all orientation has been quite…

Although I have made the choice not to stay at IUPUC all four years of my college career, being here my first semester has started me off great. During this event they spoke of how we start and end our four years in the same way. I am just glad I have been able to enjoy my first semester by making some new friends, learning new strategies to working and figuring my life out.…

When I imagined going to college for the first time, I thought I would cry and be homesick. To not be homesick I told myself to be involved with the Welcome Weekend activities and it worked! My classes were intimidating on the first day, but now that we have had many classes I am comfortable. I am using my time management skills everyday because I have many meetings to attend. Overall, I am glad I choose to continue my education at UW-Platteville because it feels like home.…
