How I met my best friend
I started my journey in eighth grade when I met my boyfriend, Cory. We met through mutual friends and immediately became close. We began hanging out here and there with group of friends and eventually split off from the group and being hanging out alone. We began as friends and started taking time to get to know each other, at first it was awkward because there wasn’t much to talk about but after a while of being around each other we got to know one another really well. He brought me to his house for the first time to meet his family and I don’t think I’ve ever been so nervous. I can remember searching through my closet for what felt like forever trying to decide what to wear. Finally when we got to his house his family greeted us in the kitchen. All I can remember is thinking how perfect their family looked, the exact stereotype of what a happy loving family should look like. I immediately felt welcomed and knew that we would get along really well. The whole time I was there I can remember worrying about having to introduce him to my family. I wasn’t sure if my parents would accept the idea of me having a boyfriend at such a young age and I was nervous they wouldn’t approve. About a week later I took the leap and brought Cory to my house afterschool to meet my parents, and surprisingly my dad took to him right away. They were joking around like they had known each other for years and my mom seemed to really enjoy his company also. Now that the hard part was over we began hanging out more and more and getting even closer over time. His two best friends Blake and Andrew however did not like the idea of us being together and insisted that I had “stolen their friend away”. We ended up breaking up for about three weeks because of his friends, they would never be nice to me when I was around and would always tell Cory that I was interfering with their friendship. I saw them as barbarians...
