Beowulf: Good Vs. Evil

In Denmark and southwestern Sweden, a poem was formed about mythological creatures. The dark and gruesome poem is called From Beowulf. Beowulf is a fearless man with superhuman qualities. He is the bravest man in all the land. In the poem, there is seen greed, bravery, and heroic behavior. The story From Beowulf shows differences in the battles because how Beowulf feels, similarities on how he fights in each battle, and good versus evil is based more on status rather than on morals. All the battles in story show different feelings of Beowulf and they all have different reasons why he is fighting. In the first battle, Beowulf is fighting mostly for revenge and to show off his superhuman qualities and kill Grendel. He wants to show his bravery and valor by showing that he can defeat
Beowulf is seen as the good, but he is not morally good, he wants to be the hero just for the fame and glory that comes with being good. Beowulf also wants to die while fighting because that’s what heroes do and he wants to be seen as a hero that never gave up on his people. An example of evil is Grendel, who kills 30 innocent people in the story. Grendel eats humans and knows he is evil. Grendel chooses to be evil, he is not just born evil. Beowulf knows Grendel chooses the dark side thus makes Beowulf want to kill Grendel. From Beowulf is a sublime examples of good versus evil, the differences of how Beowulf fights in different battles, and how each different battle can have surprising similarities. Being a good person should come from the heart and not from want of power and popularity. This poem shows how we need to make sure our intentions are based on good and not secretly on bad. When fighting in the real world we must use our own, authentic choice, not the materialistic and pressure choice from our peers. Just like how Beowulf used his own, authentic powerful to defeat evil and not his
