Benjamin Franklin's Influence On Society

Benjamin Franklin had many jobs; he had been an inventor, scientist, politician, librarian, postmaster, and writer, just to name a few. Franklin was a genius that wanted to help his people. He founded the first public hospital in the United States of America, developed a concept for a public library, instituted and established the post office, organized the first volunteer fire department, and also insured the people for fire damages to their homes. In addition to his “famous firsts,” he is also known for his inventions such as the bifocals, lightning rod, swimming fins, The Franklin stove, and the glass harmonica. Franklin’s accomplishments not only changed the lives of the people around him but influenced and encouraged their use in today’s society. The ones that have personally impacted my life are the development of public hospitals, post offices, and public libraries, each an important and essential addition to the country of the United States of America by Founding Father Franklin. Primarily, the most important of all his firsts for me is the co-founding of the first public hospital in 1751, the Pennsylvania Hospital. Before the creation of the Pennsylvania Hospital,
Franklin was “once the country’s Postmaster General” where he proceeded to create and develop systems in the handling of mail (Ringle). Many of his methods are in progress today, used by postal services throughout the country. The ability for me to send and receive letters and packages from family members in other countries is close to my heart; communication any other way is difficult, and sometimes, impossible to come across. In addition to personal mail, the postal office is also used by firms and the government to reach people across the country. Whether for billing or the mailing of official documents, the post office is an essential intermediate source for object transportation.Thank you, mailman
