Benefits Of Missions Trip
In tenth grade, I went on a missions trip with my church to Mink Lake, which is a camp by the Gunflint Trail in northern Minnesota. During the missions trip, we prepared a camp for the summer. Some of my personal jobs were to help clean out two sheds and reorganize them, haul logs, and trim trees all over the camp. The trip benefitted myself and the other people on the missions trip because we were able to help people have a fun experience at camp over the summer, and we also helped the people running the camp to not have to work so hard to prepare the camp for the summer campers. Another reason it was a good experience for all of us workers is because we did not have our cell phones, so we were able to form new relationships with each other since we were not constantly distracted by our …show more content…
We also found out what it was like to work hard, the afternoon we arrived, we worked about three to four hours, then the next day we put in about ten hours of work, and the next morning before we left the camp we worked another hour

Volunteering for service hours changed my outlook on life. I worked with the Hydrocephalus Association in both eleventh and twelfth grade. The Hydrocephalus Association focuses on three things community, clarity, and cure. Hydrocephalus is a condition defined by an abnormal, excessive accumulation of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) within the cavities of the brain. Some people with this condition can live a normal life being unnoticeable while other have difficulties. The association works on awareness to find a cure, clarity in helping families further understand the condition, and a community which will always be supportive. Service hours can sometimes be a hassle but once I started volunteering with that association it became fun because I was…

There is absolutely nothing better than spending a week on vacation with your friends. Last summer, I went to the Free Lutheran Youth (FLY) convention. FLY is a large get-together where Lutheran teenagers from around the country meet and worship. Abby Ator, Lance Bengochea, Sierra Machart, Mariah Machart, Emma Pederson, Bryan Pederson and I go to Bethel Lutheran Church; we decided to fundraise and attend the FLY convention. This year was the first time I have participated; the experience literally changed my outlook on life. The week I spent in Estes Park, Colorado, brought me closer to ten people who I never imagined would become my close friends.…

Over the past summer I had the opportunity to go to Deep Impact in Shelby, North Carolina. Deep Impact is a mission camp that is run by The Baptist Men that gathers youth groups throughout the state to help the needy and to spread the Word of Jesus. There were different mission teams at the camp and I was placed on a construction team. On my construction team, we helped elderly and disabled people by building wheelchair ramps for them. The construction team had three supervisors, and they made the kids on the team do most of the work. We would do different kinds of work like digging out holes for posts, saw boarding, or screwing in decking boards. I really enjoyed this kind of work and it really made me feel good that when we finished, we were…

The most rewarding work experience that I have had was to work as a volunteer for the International office at Northern Virginia Community College. Personally, I considered volunteering responsible work because it requires time effort and commitment. Working as a volunteer with the International Office was meaningful to me because I was able to assist so many students in achieving their dream of obtaining an American college education. I was able to help the International Students and to give them a better understanding of the resources that NOVA offers to international students. Furthermore, my responsibility was to arrange student get-togethers and in so doing build a sense of community and cohesion. My purpose for volunteering was to assist international students, many of whom are away from home with very little support at a very young age, with making a smooth transition in to a new coulter. This is particularly important to me because I am a dual citizen of America and Pakistan and understand the difficulty of assimilating into a new culture.…

This summer, I was blessed with an amazing experience. I had the opportunity to travel to Haiti on a mission trip. Of course, I was slightly nervous about traveling to a third world country, where I did not know the language, and the only people I would know would be the people from the church that I was traveling with. However, I knew this would be a life changing experience, so I took the leap! I am so grateful I did because every second was worth it! Our mission was to work with orphans, help homeschool English speaking children, and meet with the women’s group of Grand Savann Christian Church.…

The first was spent working with the children from the Safe Haven Program. We spent time with the children of this program for the beginning weeks of the summer semester. We sold tomato plants at the Farmer’s Market along with the children from this program, which had grown these plants on the Tuskegee University farm. While working with the children from the local YMCA, we had the children participate in arts and crafts projects, as well as games and other activities. I had the opportunity to spend one Wednesday at the Auburn University’s farm, which was the agency of three of my peers. While visiting their agency we had the chance to harvest vegetables and volunteer at the food…

At school teachers please us with field trips and fun activities. So since they do this it makes me work harder at school to show that I am appreciative to what the teachers have done for my peers and I. This makes an impact on me because the teachers don't need to do all the things that they do for us. Every year my family down it's close to the kids that need clothing. This allows kids to be warm during winter and have a good set of clothes. donating clothes makes an impact on me because no kid or adult should be cold during winter or be left alone with no…

At the age of 10, my parents encouraged me to volunteer as an altar server in the church. Good thing they did because this helped me to overcome stage fright and to see life from a bigger perspective, a world where everyone deserves a good quality of life and freedom. The high point of this lesson came when I participated in World Youth Day in Poland in 2016. I encountered many cultures through…

When I was a kid I grew up shadowing my parents at different community events they were helping to organize. What ever they were doing, whether it be setting up for a banquet or planning the final touches of an event or taking part in an event there I was with my older sister always watching. As I got older I started to get asked to help, of course I started with the little task but somewhere along the line I was getting the big task, helping others complete their task and being an active member of similar groups my parents had belonged to. Reflecting on why I got involved I do not have a specific moment that lead me to where I am , it was just something I was taught and learned as I grew up to be who I am today.…

I with the help of a group of friends and family started up a small daycare nearby, so that the kids could play together while the parents go enjoy the shopping or the museum it was nice to see our son Apisi playing with the other children. Somedays I still have a hard time believing that this all worked out how I went from a lonely man working in the duty free shop to one day being part of a big community and being part of a wonderful family. I guess it shows that when you become inspired you should jump on it while it lasts and great things can come of…

Having the opportunity to make new, diverse friends around the community impacted me as a person. The people I met not only included the people I served, but also included the people I worked alongside of me in the food pantry. Since I volunteered at the same day and time every week, I was able to become familiar with many new people. In fact, many of these people were even able to connect to my life. One day I had a conversation with a man I volunteered with numerous times whose name was Steve.…
