Similar to all other citizens immigrants also have to pay taxes which again helps with the economic growth of the host country. In the article Reaping the Economic Benefits of Immigration “in the last ten years there was a 47% increase in the workforce due to immigrants in the U.S and 70% in Europe” (Reaping the Economic Benefits of Immigration, 2008). Economically immigration has a profound effect on our society, opening up our borders for immigrants allows for the host country to achieve increased economic growth.
Lastly one of the most important benefits of immigration is the diversity and multiculturalism that surrounds it. When immigrants settle into the host country they often struggle to fit in, so as a form of feeling more comfortable they bring with them the traditions and culture from their homeland. Immigrants help to diversify the host country in many ways such as the introduction to a wide variety of cuisines, traditions, celebrations and clothing. Canada is a nation that sees cultural diversity as something to celebrate. In our modern society diversity is good aspect within a country on account of it allows the host country to experience different customs outside of what they are normally used to. The culture of these foreign individuals becomes so widespread that many school boards have made teaching their students about the culture of other countries apart of the curriculum.
