Ben Carson Accomplishments
A leader in the field of medicine that truly inspired me to gravitate towards a career in medicine is retired neurosurgeon Benjamin Carson. Benjamin Carson an african-american neurosurgeon and was the first neurosurgeon to separate conjoined twins. HOwever, I’m not inspired by Carson’s achievement, I am greatly inspired by his story on how he was able to achieve success. Dr. Carson was raised by a single mother, in a very tough society. He always struggled with school, and especially his anger. His mother urged him to work hard, and go to the library to read books. Although after a lot of continuous nagging, Carson eventually listened to his mother and began to read books at the library. HE began to see the beauty of knowledge, and education. He began to see the beauty of life itself. …show more content…
Anger. He struggled with anger management issues, which led him to attempted harm of a friend, and his own mother, but faith and reasoning saved Ben Carson from his problems. Through faith, hard work, and diligence Carson overcame the odds of being a young african american male from a one parent home, and got accepted into one of the most prestigious universities in the country, and to later become one of the greatest neurosurgeons in the world. That's what appeals me about Ben Carson, not the fact that he was the first to separate two conjoined twins, not that fact that he won the Presidential Medal of Freedom, but the fact that he was like me and you, human. A human with his own personal struggles, but despite his situation, he overcame society’s expectations of people like him. He wasn’t willing to be what people expected of him, he wasn’t willing to blame his situation for his failure, he blamed himself, and worked hard to achieve success. That's why I am inspired by Dr. Ben Carson, because he overcame the odds, and his situations, and relied on his faith and hardwork to achieve

Justina ford inspired me and an insane amount of others related to an African American woman to follow her dreams of being a doctor or whatever they dream of accomplishing. Also, she taught me to try even if there are obstacles trying to stop you . I am not African American or a woman so it would be easier for a man to work up to this kind of job, but this shows that women around the world are trying their hardest to accomplish an accomplishment no one else could think of achieving and to me that is extraordinarily inspiring. Also, she was the first African American woman to become a doctor and that shows me that if one woman can accomplish that then I would enjoy hearing more of what other women in this kind of situation can achieve in order…

Ben Carson: gifted, intellectual, and one of the most talented surgeons of his generation. Those are just a few words to describe the well-renown and inspiring Dr. Ben Carson. Unfortunately, people didn’t always use these words to describe the talented surgeon. At a young age Ben Carson was forced to overcome obstacles in school. Carson struggled academically throughout elementary school, and was often referred to as the “class dummy”. Carson began to rise to the top in middle and throughout high school, and he eventually graduated high school with honors. One writer describes Carson’s life obstacles as inspiring, “The lessons imparted by Dr. Carson are inspiring because they are an echo of his own life. He faced more than his share of hard knocks on the rough necked streets of Detroit” (BASU).…
