Belhaven's Nursing Program Analysis

On a beautiful summer day, a little girl is home with her sister while their parents are at work, and suddenly the house phone rings. The little eleven year old girl answers the phone and then passes it along to her twenty year old sister. Within seconds, her older sister screams and their lives are changed forever! That little girl was me, Olexis Haymon. On that day my best friend, my sister, my confidant was diagnosed with cancer. No one knows how much pain this disease can cause until they experience it. My sister was only twenty years old and had to fight for her life for two years. Although I was only eleven, I had to act as an adult. I had to give my sister a bath, change her diaper, feed her, clean her port, and the worst part was to hold her as she cried. I had to miss numerous days of school to care for her as my parents worked to keep food on our table and lights on in our home. I prayed for her to recover, but two years later God
Belhaven's Nursing program will facilitate Christian values and a positive outlook in my life as I matriculate through the program and as I engage in my career. I will be proud to know I am serving God's people by using the knowledge I attained throughout the course of this program. If chosen as a candidate, my development and practice in the field of nursing would be powerful.
