Being Creative Research Paper
Many find creative ways to do tasks. Lets say, for example, you used a screwdriver as a pry bar, or that you used a butter knife to get baked on food off a pan. These are all examples of the originality characteristic of creativity. My personal experiences with being creative are best explained by this very characteristic. When I joined the Air Force, who knew what to expect. As soon as you get to basic training you have to adapt and overcome. Those words are something I have lived but since day one. In basic you learn quick that a cardboard cutout can make folding your shirts in a perfect eight inch square a breeze. Lining up beds and shoes can be simple if you have a long enough piece of string to stretch down the bays of beds. In a way we were able to use people for this characteristic as well. Like choosing a few troops that are good at shining shoes or folding the shirts to help the individuals that may not be so great at it. This has followed me through basic and into my career field as well. I am a jet engine mechanic, and have …show more content…
I find myself being creative in almost every task I do. For instance, I had to get on my roof this past winter to fix a satellite dish. Wouldn’t you know it snowed the night before and it was rater slippery and I had to be creative with the tools that I had available. I then grabbed a cargo strap and lassoed it around one or the dish support rods to aid me in getting up to it. There are also simple things around the house like holding a small nail while you hammer it into the wall or a piece of wood. Rather than hitting my fingers, or whole hand for some, I grab a pair of pliers and hold it with them. These are all my examples of what I think best explains how I use the originality characteristic of creativity. It can start with household chores and flow into my career. Everyone’s different and it is good to have a mix of the three characteristics when trying to accomplish

Lets take Janet's work for example. She had to use her imagination to overcome a challenge she had no control over. She first discovered the item that she would use and then used her imagination to fathom an art form unheard of. She used creativity to turn a net into a 3D geometrical shape that can change form at any given moment. She did not stop there. She had to create a way for her art to be permanent and unaltered by weather conditions. The initial imagination she had of the nets sparked her creativity to expand her projects and eventually lead her into trying different…

Joining the Army taught me many things, like shooting a rifle, how to make hospital corners on a bed, and how to take a one minute shower. These are all things well worth knowing, but one thing the Army taught me that couldn’t be learned anywhere else, was how to jump out of a perfectly good airplane. It doesn’t seem too hard, you get out the same way you got on, through the door. Though at very different speeds. Attending the Army’s airborne school in Ft. Benning, Georgia was one of the most challenging experiences of my life, but I didn’t join the Army to not push myself.…

I was raised in the military, my father, Lane Benefield, was a pilot for the U.S. Air Force. My mother, Annemarie Benefield, was a stay at home mother who took care of my brother, Mason Benefield, 3 years older than me, and I. My environment was ever changing sense we moved every three years to a new place. This however, allowed me to become great at making new friend and connecting. This also allowed for me to experience new cultures and types of people, from the far south to the east coast and across the Atlantic, I have had the opportunity to expand my mind and knowledge. Growing up in the military has also taught me the importance of manners and discipline. I remember when I was about 10 my dad made it a rule that if I forgot to answer with “yes sir” or “no sir”, I was required to do 10 push ups. Although the discipline wasn’t without justification though, it has come in handy more times that I can list, such as job interviews, meeting important people, and overall impression.…

The ability to overcome personal fear is very difficult to accomplish. Anxiety gripped me and sweat began to bead on my forehead, all I wanted to do was to cry, as I am terribly afraid of heights, but I knew I had to do this, and be brave, to be an Army Soldier. Imagine being 70 feet up in the air on an old rickety, wooden tower and an angry Drill Sergeant below is yelling, “Jump, just jump into the mat, you won’t get hurt”, or having to repel down the side of a building with nothing but a thin rope around your waist. When I joined the Army, I never imagined how much it would affect my life. Years later, I can easily see how Basic Combat Training (BCT) helped to shape my values and character and helped make me the person I am today.…

The first day of basic training was one of the most horrifying days of my life. I was afraid. I was terrified. I did not know what to expect from or during basic training. I repeated over and over again, “Why did I join the army?” I should not be here. I was so far away from home. I had no family close by. Everything that could possibility went wrong did. First, I was late arriving to basic training. Second, I did not have the correct athletic shorts formation. Third, a white male approach me with wearing a round brown hat covering his eyes yelling at me for wearing the wrong athletic shorts to formation. Fourth, the physical fitness test was extremely challenging. Because I was an athlete in high school, I thought the physical fitness test would be easy. Basic training was the beginning of a life long journey. This day I was faced with many obstacles. I had to learn to be tough, patient, and motivated.…
