Other kids take this as a sign of weakness and automatically bully them, making them an outsider. That kid would now want friends and to not be lonely, but they can’t because they were bullied. Lonely kids, or “loners”, are mistaken for outsiders. No one “likes” outsiders, but “loners” are kids who are liked that just like to work alone. When another person sees this, they like to make them a person who everyone stays away from, and that makes them “stand out”. No one wants to stand out, and no one wants to be misunderstood.
