Do you think cheerleading is too easy to not be a sport? Well in this essay I will be explaining how to be a cheerleader. I will focus on the skills and abilities needed to be a cheerleader. By the time you read my essay I hope to change your mind about cheerleading. Cheerleading is a big part of my life and always has been. I have been dedicated to cheerleading ever since I was seven years old.…
Cheer is not just a sport. It is intense physical activity with a purpose- to serve as a motivation for the team. Taking two full sport seasons, the dedication and energy required from these young cheerleaders is unbelievable. For up to 2 1/2 hours a day, they work together to achieve their goal: perfect routines to make the Hilltop Football and Basketball teams engulf in victories. These devoted cheerleaders spent 3 days at Cheer Camp and one day at the District Camp, where they expanded their knowledge and creativity for our school. However, these days spent were not for competition, but for learning from each other. Still, their natural competitive nature filled their minds and actions, self-motivating them to execute their best efforts…
In the past three years, the NFL has faced a multitude of lawsuits dealing with the unfair payment of NFL cheerleaders. Multiple different articles support the cheerleaders, agreeing that an average of a $1,000 salary each year is unfair. However, other articles are against a higher payment, claiming that cheerleaders work because they enjoy the sport, rather than for the money. While Megan McArdle’s article, “NFL Cheerleaders Don’t Do it for the Money” uses informal diction, comparisons to other jobs, and concession to the opposition to support the claim that the cheerleaders do not deserve to be paid more, “Who Do We Under-Compensate?”, by Ira Boudway, uses a more formal diction, statistics, and concession to the other side of the argument to support the opposite.…
My partner of eleven years is my greatest cheerleader. When I feel overwhelmed and depressed she gives me encouragement to conquer every challenge I’m faced with. In addition to my partner, another influential person in my life is a co-worker and friend. She fills the maternal role that is absent in my life, by giving me advice, different perspectives, and confidence. My career plays a vital role in my resilience, it gives me cause to wake up and achieve greatness each day. The children I work with inspire me to be a better educator, nurturer, and caregiver. When I am feeling depressed nothing lifts my spirits speedier, than my students. I believe it is a gift to have the availability to focus on constructing children’s strengths, rather than…
In my opinion I think that Cheerleading should be a competitive sport because cheerleaders work as hard as all other sport players do. For example cheerleaders show muscle, athleticism and agility when practicing and cheering at games. Cheerleaders show muscle because they lift other people they throw and stack people on top of other people to make a pyramid. They show Agility because when doing cheers they have to make sharp and quick movements with their hands and their feet. I don’t think that it’s fair that cheerleading isn’t a competitive sport because it doesn’t involve a ball. That is why I think that cheerleading is just as much as a sport than any other…
By definition, cheerleading is a sport involving the performance of organized cheering, chanting, and dancing in support of a sports team at games. To me cheerleading isn’t just a sport, it’s a lifestyle. It takes more than just cheering on the football team during Friday night games. It is a lot of hard work and dedication. When competition season starts, my life revolves around cheer.…
Freshman year my best friend and I made an impulse decision to go to the high school cheer clinic. As a way to make friends and to make both are moms happy, since they were both cheerleaders . After the first day of clinic we were both hooked. Cheerleading to most is full of popular girls that are selfish, snobby, and don't have a sense of morality. But to me and my team we are nothing like that. My team is a mismatched group of girls that found a love in cheering on other sport teams. Spending upwards of 8 hours with the same twenty six girls a week makes anybody to become incredibly close and that is what I have gotten to. We may fight but, with these groups of girls my life would of never been the same. We are all there for eachother no…
Allstar cheerleaders all around the country get heated when the question “Is cheerleading a sport?” is mentioned. Cheerleaders put a lot of time and effort into cheerleading, so when someone says it isn’t a sport, it is very frustrating. People act like it is easy, and no one seems to understand how much strength and endurance it takes. Allstar cheerleading is a sport because the athletes require exceptional physical ability, and they engage in difficult, point-based competitions.…
I recall being the youngest girl, cheering with others several years older than me, when I began Area Youth Football cheerleading way back at the age of five. I had tried other sports such as soccer and basketball, however they didn't electrify me as cheerleading did. I instantly fell in love with the sport of cheerleading. To this day, I would not even consider changing my commitment to cheerleading, for it has positively influenced my life and taught me countless lessons that will stick with me forever.…
The position I loved in cheerleading was being a flier. When I was litter I was able to be a flier. Because of me growing I have to become a base because I’m also too short to be a back spot. Last season I went to Florida for cheerleading for the first time. It was a great experience.…
I think being part of this cheer team will show me how to be a better leader than i am today. Now i dont have the best school record, but i honestly believe if i make this team it’ll help me find who i really am. The leadership i been showing has not been the best but i am trying to change that all around. Being a baby bulldog cheerleader just might help me to take on that challenge.…
Cheerleading is a nationally recognized activity. Some people do not see it as a sport. But people who are in the so called activity consider themselves to be a athlete. Although schools and National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) do not consider cheerleaders as athletes, but make them go by the same rules and safety guidelines of all other recognized sports. Cheerleaders have some of the same concepts of gymnastics and gymnastics is considered a sport. Cheerleaders are given stereotypes and classified as dumb and easy. So I am here to show that although there are exceptions to everything.…
At a normal summer camp, a few dozen fifteen-year-old girls wouldn’t be told to spend a night alone in the woods. Camp Cheerio isn’t a normal summer camp. I’ve been going to Camp Cheerio every summer since I was eight years old, and I’ve loved every second of being there. The summer before sophomore year of high school was the last year that I could be a camper. Part of being in your last year as a camper is doing CREW. The acronym “CREW” stands for Courage, Responsibility, Enthusiasm, and Worth. In CREW all of the last year campers do things such as team building, being a counselor for a day, hiking eleven miles to and from Stone Mountain, and more. However, the most significant part of CREW was doing Solo Night. During Solo Night, each…
Being a cheerleader is usually doubted in real advantage from it. "What are you doing for?" is an example from many questions that some people are always asking as if it was nonsense. What does being a cheerleader mean to you? In my opinion, taking part in this club is a good way to try. First,…
I decided to participate in athletics and one of my major’s programs. I decided to become a Campbell cheerleader because it got me involved in the bigger sporting events on campus. I was a competition cheerleader in high school and you are required to be under the age of eighteen to be in competitions, which made it fairly easy…
