PART II. TRANSTHEORETICAL MODEL OF BEHAVIOR CHANGE PROJECT

In this part of your assignment you will journal for three weeks or 5 weeks and will do an assessment of the behavior change process. When you journal for three weeks or five weeks you should have a minimum of three (3) to five (5) entries per week. Please answer all questions at the end of this assignment.

Week 1 Review: Write a short paragraph of your progress for this week. Even though I didn’t have enough time for gym in at least 5 hours per week, I lost 3 pound by eating more vegetables and doing belly fat exercise every night. I would try to do the exercise extra 10 minutes in the second week. As a result, I achieved 1/3 of my goal.

    First I had to determine my daily requirements by using a calorie calculator. I was able use the weight loss calculator to determine the time and calorie deficit required to reach my target weight. For my optimal weight loss I reduced my calories to 15-20% below maintenance. When I did not make progress I increased this later, the larger my deficit produced, the quicker my body caught on. I learn that my first step should be to increase my activity levels.     I selected my student from one of my students that I viewed to have some of the worst behavior in the class. I am at Bond Elementary School which is an intercity school. Most of the school’s student population comes from subsidized housing (the projects). I am in a first grade class of nineteen students. While performing my duties at in Mrs. J Williams Classroom I became very eager to observe as well as work with a student by the name of Ja’Von W. Ja’Von is a six year old, I recently found out that his mother is on drugs and is being supported by his sixteen year old brother. Many of the students that I have observed in the classroom have had behavior problems and issues with their academics especially reading, but Ja’Von seemed to stick out more than the other students did. While the other students would be engaging in reading activities, Ja’Von would constantly disrupt other students that were engaged in their reading lessons. He also seemed to have issues with their cooperating teacher Mrs. J. Williams. During a conversation with Mrs. J. Williams she noted that this was a frequent and on going thing with this particular student. When I decided to work with Ja’Von, one of the first activities that I wanted to engage in was her reading aloud to me. It dawned on me that the student’s behavior problem was his difficulty to read. Ja’Von was missing the basic skills that she needed in order to read with fluency as well as read with understanding. I felt that this would be a great opportunity for me to help him with his reading but it will also make for a good behavior change project.…

    In my self-directed behavioral change project, I encountered a lot of difficult challenges and obstacles in reaching my ultimate goal: a better night’s sleep. My goals for this behavioral change project were to establish a proper sleep and bedtime regimen, getting a full-night’s rest and ultimately feeling more alert and energetic through the day. My main goals were to improve my sleep cycle/regimen by getting the necessary eight hours of sleep I need every night and waking up in the morning feeling fully rested and not sleepy, tired, or groggy at all.
