Beetlejuice Analysis
The film I’m going to be reviewing is called ‘Beetlejuice.’ Beetlejuice is a 1988 Tim Burton film, starring well-known actors such as Michael Keaton, Jeffrey Jones and Winona Ryder. The film is rated as a 15, for the use of bad language, although it’s mild, violence and sexual references. However, I would say that this film should be rated 12A, because although there is some bad language and mild scary scenes, I think that the film overall isn’t as bad as other 12A films, The Woman in Black being a prime example.
A young couple, known as the Maitland’s (Geena Davis and Alec Baldwin) are a happy couple who, when killed in a silly/humorous way, return as ghosts, not realising they are for quite some time, to their beloved home to wreak havoc

Most evaluative comments are biased and not supported by other formal means. Borwell mentioned some examples that we, as audiences, often use after watching a movie that we either enjoyed or loathed, "'That movie was great! I loved it!' 'Really? I didn't think it was very good'" (Borwell). However, these comments are brief and did not provide any details as to why the person "loved" the movie or found that it was not as great as they expected. No analysis of the scenes, music, elements, characters, or symbolism was given. The evaluative talk was just brief and lacked any evidence to help scholarly debates on…

Seven years ago, filmmaker Kirby Dick released an eye-opening documentary entitled “This Film is Not Yet Rated.” In it, Dick launched an investigation into the secret review board responsible for the classification of films under the Motion Picture Association of America's umbrella ratings policy. In addition to arguing that the MPAA reacts more favorably to films financed and backed by Hollywood studios while penalizing independent filmmakers, “This Film is Not Yet Rated” highlights the hypocritical attitudes centered on violence and sex, particularly sexual acts depicting homosexuality or female empowerment. Not surprisingly, the MPAA responded by slapping “This Film is Not Yet Rated” with an NC-17 rating of its own.…

The Motion Picture Association of America is the organization that stamps each motion picture with a specified rating indicating which audience a particular film is appropriate for. The specific ratings are; G (General Audience), PG (Parental Guidance Advised), PG-13 (Parental Guidance Advised No Children under 13), and R (Restricted). In addition there are several more ratings such as NC-17 (No Children under 17), though these are less known. People often describe certain movies as improperly rated. Sometimes a movie is rated Pg-13 for harsh language and violence, but the rating fails to mention that the film also contains nudity or sexuality. Other times the movie is rated R for language yet contains only one or two mild profanities. In such cases one must question the consistency of the rating panel. If such lapses of efficiency are common, one should seriously consider rethinking their personal movie collection.…

This movie should not be rated PG-13 because of violent languages and adult consents. “F words” are frequently used by high school kids throughout the movie and as well other abusive languages. Joanne Cantor who is Ph.D. has reported that “Seeing is believing for children” (Grossman, Dave, & Degatano, 1999). It is possible to conclude that when children see sexual or violence scenes, they begin to believe that those are the ways they should believe. Many scenes in this movie are not appropriate for children and they should not be allowed to watch…
