Being a police officer is not all about making money or having a badge, it's about helping a community. This goes back to training something you need. There are six steps in becoming an officer.First you have to have a high school diploma or GED. Getting those two is the minimum formal education requirement for most officers. Second you have to meet more minimum requirements. You have to get a up to date drivers license and be at least 18 or older. Your background has to be clean with no criminal record. Being a felony will automatically disqualify you from being an officer. Third is a bachelor's degree, sometimes a bachelor degree is not required unless you want to reach for a more advanced position. If you have on and it is not required you could still turn it in if you want. The departments do sometimes look into it. Forth is you have to take the law enforcement entrance exam. It has to be a passing score. Fifth you have to graduate from the police academy. This is where the most important training come in at. This training can last you to six months. This training includes seizure, criminal statutes, traffic laws, firearms training, driver training and physical conditioning. Lastly you have and need to work toward a promotion.
