First and foremost a little introspection is required, what about my current lifestyle and eating habits are detrimental to my health. Since this course has started I have already begun to address my nutritional habits, I have cut back on red meats and eat more fish and chicken. I still enjoy a large variety of fresh seasonal vegetables; I do not eat canned vegetables. I need to drink more milk, although I do meet some of my dairy needs from cheese products. I try and balance the rest of my diet with recommended amounts of whole grains and fruits. I have completely removed hot dogs from my diet; it was a source of sodium and high in cholesterol which I have enough medical issues with.…

I completed the majority of my planning process and my whole design brief for that matter, systematically. I worked through each part of the brief before I moved on to the next stage because I felt each stage was directly influenced by the work done in the earlier stages. The research component I thought was an integral part of the folio as it was the foundations for all work that came after it. The knowledge I gained researching my key functional ingredients helped me to know what they did in the product I was creating and how they would react with the ingredients around them. Another aspect that was useful was the interview with an Italian chef who gave me ideas and tips on cooking certain foods. This enabled me to be confident going into my productions as well as saving stress, time and improving the quality and sensory properties of the dish. For example, the bread making for my production of rosemary focaccia bread as she gave me tips on how to properly knead and shape the bread.…

Motivational interviewing is a method for enhancing intrinsic motivation to change by exploring and resolving ambivalence. It is important and underused model that can provide career counselors with strategies to create change (Sommers-Flanagan & Sommers-Flanagan, 2017). Motivational interviewing has been shown to be an effective intervention across a range of different health-related behaviors compared with non directive counseling, it is more focused and goal directed. The main purpose is to examine and resolve ambivalence, and the counselor is intentionally directive in pursuing this goal by providing a positive support for the client (Muscat, 2005).…

There are other areas that I can learn to grow in. It would be beneficial for me to practice more of the therapy styles and interventions. I’ve practiced them in class, so I know that if I practice those styles in therapy sessions I will be able to grow more. I also feel I need to learn more about how to deal with clients with addictions. I haven’t had much practice with clients who have a full blown addiction to something. I know that this is what I need to work on, but I know that I can only do so much as an…

Nursing is a career which I believe that needs to come from the heart and I have at all times appreciated with respect. My aim in doing my education in nursing was because I always wanted to achieve an extended and successful profession in the health and medical field. I suppose the responsibilities of a nurse can be very demanding and frantic in certain instances but nothing can be equal to the joy and satisfaction it brings. There are many specialized areas in the field of nursing but I was particular interested in the mental health field. I have had a chance to experience mental healths nursing during one of my placements .There are a few goals which I would like to achieve within the next couple of years. After graduating and achieving my registration my plan is to do a graduate year in mental health. My aim is to start on a postgraduate program to master in mental health and also to start working part time as a mental health nurse. I’m also looking forward to improving my skills in mental health field doing endorsement and incentive programs which are approved by the Australian College of Mental Health Nurses (ACMHN), which are available online (ACMHN 2009). My ultimate goal is to become a mental health nurse practitioner. The main goal of working part time while doing my postgraduate studies is to improve my communication skills, medication knowledge, gain team work experience and to develop my confidence. My over all intension is to expand an array of abilities which will help me to follow career which I love to do in my life.…
