, Over this Christmas Vacation I read the book, Because Of Winn-Dixie by Kate DiCamillo. The Genre of this story is Fiction. Some of the main characters in this story are India Opal Buloni, her father The Preacher, there dog Winn-Dixie, Miss. Franny the librarian, and Gloria Dump a blind old women who lives in the neighborhood. India Opal Buloni, and her father have just moved to Naomi, Florida. India’s father preaches at a small converted convenience store named Open Arms Baptist Church. India prays for the need of a new friend and about how much she misses her mother. When India showed her dad the dog he wasn’t sure if he wanted to keep him or not. India came up with a plan to keep him temporarily until she found his “real” home. To help pay for the dog food and necessary items, India got a part time job at the local pet store working for a musical man named Otis. India really liked to read, so one day when she got out of work Winn-Dixie brought her to the local library, where she met Miss. Franny, the librarian. Miss Franny also loved to her, so India really liked her and they got along well. Miss Franny was also tell India, and Winn-Dixie a lot of stories from when she was little. One day when Winn-Dixie was running he ran into an old woman’s backyard, her nickname was “the witch” (Gloria Dump), so India was afraid to get Winn-Dixie. When she eventually did she realized that Gloria Dump, was blind and can see from her heart. India and Winn-Dixie went back to Gloria’s house a lot, they enjoyed being with her and her stories.
