Write a brief summary or blog of your experiences teaching this lesson, addressing the following questions:

• What went well? What did not go well? (Cite specific examples)
Students were able to understand the how a beaver could change their environment through the visual representation seen in the video. Also, students were able to utilize their background knowledge on animals building homes to understand the impact on the wood and stopping water in a stream or river from flowing. However, it took the class longer to realize these same dams could cause a flood or prevent a drought because these ideas had to be inferred in weren’t literally in the videos.

Also, students created a model dam to demonstrate what it takes to prevent water from distributing through an entire container. Also, students were able to see the flood in a dam could cause if there was too much water verses when there is no dam.

My scientific content knowledge enable me to support my students’ construction of knowledge and understanding of important scientific concepts and processes by being able to clear up the misconception that animal and plants destroy the environment not help it. Clearly, the beaver was able to destroy the environment if it creates a dam and huge storm occurs. Also, I was able to demonstrate animals cannot always adapt to changes in their environment.
