The Difference between Batman and Your Parents From the time we were little kids, adults always said to look up to heroes. They did not necessarily mean Captain America or Superman, however. Our parents meant for us to try to imitate the fire fighters and police officers of our communities. Yes, these brave men and women are wonderful examples of people that kids should dream of being like, but they are not the only kind of people. Heroes and role models are one and the same in most cases, but there is still a distinct difference between the two. Not every hero is a role model and not every role model is a hero but both are needed to give children, or anyone else, an idea of the kind of person they should strive to be. Heroes are everywhere. One will find heroes fighting for their country, running into burning buildings to save others, and chasing down criminals. All of these acts are the work of altruistic people that the general populations are proud to call heroes. Kids see very different heroes in their comic books and on their television screens. Batman is a fan favorite. He is the Dark Knight, a vigilante not afraid to deliver justice where the law fails. By this description and by the label the public gives him, he is a hero.
