Bathtub Of Louisiana
A Little Piece of a Big, Big Universe
This is a story of life most of us are not accustomed to. This movie takes the viewers to a community with different values and standards for living. Instead of a focus on education, nutrition, and proper behavior, the characters here are centered on survival. These seem like wild animals to us. The Bathtub of Louisiana is not a place most of us envision raising a child. The movie centers around one 6 year old little girl, Hushpuppy who lives in the Bathtub with her Daddy. With no previous acting experience, she won the hearts of many with her performance. There is a lot that Hushpuppy has to figure out along the way. Her father, Wink, is the only family she has since her mother is not in the picture. He has a fatal illness that is slowly killing him. The place she lives is on the verge of being swallowed by the ocean. The people who live all around her are all uneducated alcoholics willing to die in order to stay loyal to their impoverished community. The people of The Bathtub are taught to take care of themselves. They are raised to be tough as nails. The children are taught about a fierce animal from the days of cave people, the Auroch. It was the ruler of the earth before the Ice age. It is through images of this animal that Hushpuppy

He leaves her to fend for herself more than any six year old kid should ever have to. She knows how to light the gas stove with a torch on her own. She was confused when he didn’t come home one night, but she didn’t panic. He tries to keep her safe during the storm, even though all he really accomplished was scaring her silly. He tries to teach her how to fish with just her hands so she’ll be okay when she is “the last man in the bathtub” as he puts it. He teaches her how to “beast” the crab by breaking it open with her bare hands. He goes out of his way to make her as brave and tough as possible. He never allows her to cry. He tries to teach her to be a

The story “Juicy and Delicious” written by Lucy Alibar and its film adaptation “Beasts of the Southern Wild” directed by Benh Zeitlin follow the life of a young child named Hushpuppy in a home she calls “the Bathtub.” Throughout the play, Hushpuppy learns how to love and care for others with examples given by the characters Miss Bathsheba, Joy, Birfday cake, and Daddy. Some of the lessons included is the traumatic effects of her injury. An example of this is Marina not talking. A quote that demonstrates this is ‘sent here [to Warrington] because [her] mother can't stand [her] silent presence at home' (P.5). This quote demonstrates that she doesn't speak at all, even with her own parents and that her mother can't stand her silent presence at home. Also, Marina's mother doesn't like having a daughter who doesn't talk. Another lesson this book…

Harvey found the bathtub running with Lulu’s clothes on the floor with Lulu nowhere in sight. While investigating the House after Wendell realized that everyone was trapped, the narrator said, This event gives clues that digs deeper into the fact that the lake shows the House’s darker side. This event gives Harvey a window to figure out that Hood is evil. Harvey observes Lulu gazing into the lake and standing precariously on the stones. Before Harvey startled Lulu at the lake, he observed that, “[Lulu] was perched on the slimy stones at the very edge of the [lake], gazing into [its] depth” (46). Lulu was “perched on the slimy stones”. A function, normal human being wouldn’t stand on slippery stones. That connects to the fact that Hood was hypnotizing and slowly transforming Lulu into a fish. This also connects to the fact that the lake reveals Hood/House’s darker side. Barker inserts hints through Lulu’s actions instead of inserting hints through Lulu’s traits and personality, a tactic that another, more generic author would’ve probably chosen. Barker’s clever hints raise suspicions and horror in both the reader’s mind and Harvey’s…

The Baths of Caracalla or Thermae Antoninianae as they were known in ancient Rome are located on the Celian Hill which overlooks the Colosseum. Emperor Marcus Aurelius Severus Antoninus Augustus had the agnomen or nickname of Emperor Caracalla; this was due to an unusual cloak he was always seen wearing and is why the baths have the name they do. The baths were in use until the hydraulic installation was destroyed in the Gothic War of the 6th century.…
