Basketball game
Nearing the end of the fourth quarter, with ten seconds to go, the Patriots down by a basket. Just a glance, and I couldn’t find an open seat in the gymnasium. Everyone on their feet, cheering their team on to victory. Players sweating and breathing hard as they carefully listen to their coach’s instructions. The referees making comments with one another just before they call the teams out on to the court. The whistle blows, players make their way to their spots on the court. The Patriots playing their rival, the Tommies, with the home court advantage. They were ready to inbound the perfectly round basketball, at the half court line.
The referee holds one hand high in the air and the other holding on to the ball. Suddenly, he blows in to his whistle and hands the ball to the tallest player for the Patriots. As soon as he touches the ball, every single player is moving with their play to get the ball inbounded. Under the basket a screen is set for a guard to roll off it towards the top on the key. The tall player sees him coming towards the ball and rockets the ball right to his chest. The ball is caught and the clock starts.
Ten seconds, the point guard calls out the designed play clearly to his teammates. Eight seconds remain, the ball is passed to the wing as the tallest player makes his way towards the top of the key. Two more seconds pass by on the scoreboard, with both teams in the bonus. The player on the wing gets a screen on the top side, while the best shooter on the team is on the other wing about to receive a screen from the tallest player. Four seconds show on the clock, the team’s best shooter comes hard off the screen, given by the tallest player, looking for the ball. The ball is riffled to him with three seconds left in the game. He is tightly defended, so he does a pump fake, which fakes everyone in the gym out. He takes one dribble back to position himself behind the three point line and pulls up for the game winning shot

Since its beginning over a century ago, basketball has evolved from a simple form of exercise with only a few rules to a highly competitive and complex national sport. Basketball was invented by James Naismith at a YMCA in Springfield, Massachusetts, in 1891 (Fox 11-13). It began as an activity for the “‘ball-game’ void” months of winter (Hanson 65), and Naismith had five standards for the game. He wanted a ball that could be handled by a player’s hands; no one was to run with the ball, and anyone could grab the ball from another player as long as the ball was in play. There was to be no personal contact, and the goal was to be raised from the ground. He created the idea and standards for basketball by combining certain aspects of American…

However, Marquette got angry, they made a late fourth quarter run and tied to the game up with seconds left on the clock. Duke calls timeout to run a play to try and win the game, they’ll most likely put the ball in the hands of their leader, Kyrie Irving. The ref blows the whistle, gives the ball to the inbound taker, and the inbound taker passes to Kyrie. 3...2...1 Kyrie takes a shot with everyone in the stands on the edge of their seats. All Johnny could do is admire the ball going through the air, hoping that it won’t go in the basket. Sadly, Marquette University’s hopes of the basketball team were crushed that day. Kyrie drilled the shot in and his team advanced. It was a heart-breaking time for not only the players, coaching staff, and fans as…

I would like to first describe the arena and atmosphere being presented. From the picture there is a lot of haze in the distance and it really appears underneath the lights. Thus, meaning that it was very hot and humid in the arena. Also, I notice the glaze of sweat appearing on each player also, meaning it was a very humid atmosphere in the arena on that historical night. From all the haze and the heat, it explains that it was shoulder to shoulder in the crowd, as the spectators watched the final shot of the season. The heat and humidity shows the importance of the game in college basketball, being the national championship. The significance of this proves that this game was a very intense, on the edge of your seat game, from all the fans producing a lot of body heat. This is what produces the haze underneath the lights, showing the importance of the game to all the viewers.…

The intense roaring of the crowd gradually faded into the vast abyss of his mind. As the last seconds ticked away, his breath got heavier and he knew that it was now or never. My father and I stand in our family room wearing matching Tom Brady jerseys. We shake with anticipation. It looks like the Seahawks are about to score a touchdown and pull ahead of the Patriots in the last few minutes of the super bowl. All hope seems lost until Malcolm Butler makes his legendary interception and ensures us a superbowl victory. My family exults. The Patriots have once again claimed another. We have spent the past months waiting and watching, hoping and praying. The Super Bowl wasn’t just won for the men on the team, it was won for all of New England. First bend legs about 90 degrees. Next, bend the dominant arm which had the ball in it, like the 2 pointer. Then, put the non-dominant arm on the side of the ball. Push up with legs, jump, and at the same time push your arm with the ball, do not forget to move the hand down to push the ball. The three pointer is not the last shot to learn. The last shot the player would need to learn is a foul shot. This shot only happens when there is a shooting foul. It is one point. First, bend the legs 90 degrees like the first two shots, but the player must be behind the line. Bend the dominant arm 90 degrees with ball in it. Push up with legs, but the player can not cross the foul line, which is the straight line in front of the basket,so the player can do a small jump but, he can not cross the line. Then put non-dominant hand on the side of the ball. Next push dominant hand up and forward, and of course catapult it forward. After completing these steps the player can complete a foul shot.…
