Baseball Bats
Wooden Baseball Bats vs. Aluminum Baseball Bats When you have the choice between a wooden baseball bat and an aluminum baseball bat, which one would you choose? Both are acceptable to play with… If you like tradition, the wooden bat is the one for you. If you like the lighter bat, the aluminum bat is for you. However, if you base your decision on which plays better, you’ll end up playing with the better of the two. Aluminum bats are obviously stronger than wooden bats. Wooden often break during a game. In a professional game, extra wooden bats are kept handy because they’re expected to break. With aluminum bats, they’re not expected to break. They can become dented or damaged in other ways, so sometimes they do need to be replaced, but not as much wooden bats do. Baseball players can swing an aluminum bat a lot faster than a wooden bat because aluminum is a lot lighter than wood. This means that the player can swing the bat much harder, with a lot more force. Power is also caused by how big the aluminum bat is. The aluminum takes in the energy from the ball when it hits the bat and sends it right back. Studies show that speed is much higher for balls hit by an aluminum bat than balls hit with a wooden bat. Studies also show players’ batting averages are significantly higher than if they use aluminum bats instead of wooden bats. If aluminum bats are better, why aren’t they used in the MLB? They want to maintain accuracy. If major leaguers switched to aluminum bats, they would break the records of great players before them. They also don’t think the aluminum bat is acceptable in pro-baseball. Baseball players should do well based on good coaching and talent rather than better bats. Many people also believe that college baseball players should play with wooden bats to be prepared and used to the way professionals play. Based on the information and facts given from research, an aluminum bat is better than a wooden bat. Aluminum bats are

The force applied and the diameter of the diameter of a hardened steel ball is kept constant while four different specimen blocks namely, aluminum, brass, copper and mild steel are penetrated by the indentation steel ball to create different indentations on each of them. The diameters of the indentions allow us to obtain the Brinell Hardness number to predict the hardest and the softest material among them. The experimental data would also allow us to compare the hardness measured with the other published results from other…

My team’s second prototype balsa wood tower performed significantly better than our first tower. The first tower held 27.5 lbs. while the second held 90 lbs. The main differences in the towers come from the increased thickness of load-bearing wood. We made the four corner pieces three sticks thick instead of only one stick. We also decreased the amount of cross pieces to make sure we were under weight. The both towers ended up crushing because the weight was unevenly distributed on the bottom. On the first tower, the cross pieces were opposite on either side, but on the second tower, the cross pieces mirrored on either side. Even though the second tower’s weight bearing strength was higher, it buckled under.…

It is getting too dangerous for players today to be using metal bats. The most dangerous position for players is pitcher because they are the closest to the batter at sixty feet six inches away from home plate. Balls hit up the middle of the field off metal bats give pitchers an average reaction time of 0.056 seconds less than that of balls hit with wood bats. This could be a difference of life and death (Shively 1). This is very little time to get out of the way of a ball. In my recent experience, we were playing Tennessee Westland and our lead-off man Chris Rankhorn hit a line drive back up the middle hitting the pitcher in…

My research revealed three main points to me. One being that metal bats have a larger “sweet spot” than wood bats. The “sweet spot” of a baseball bat is a place on the bat where the ball leaves the bat with the greatest speed and the player's hands feel very little vibration from the impact. This is because a metal bat’s barrel can hold a uniform shape longer than a wood bat. This larger “sweet spot” provides a better chance for the ball to not only be hit but hit harder.…

I remember the first time I bought a pool cue. I had just started playing pool and was getting used to the warped house cues that would sometimes send the balls scrambling in undetermined directions. That is why I decided to buy my own cue and did this without knowing that there is actually a bit of basic knowledge needed to select the right one. Well, I figured that out real quick. First of all, I didn't realize that I would need to spend over $15.00 for a good cue. To get a good cue, you need to be prepared to pay over $100 and use that money to buy a wooden one. Wood does not react to temperature as bad as other kinds and does not bend so easily (although house cues would almost disprove this, but they are abused daily). I can say that…

Generally, all bats have a similar shape and wing structure though different species have finer details depending on the diet and social adaptations. Bat species vary in size. The largest bats may weigh up to 2.2 pounds and have a wingspan of up to five feet. The smallest mature bats have a mere wingspan of six inches and weighs about 0.07 pounds. Bats have mouths closely resembling that of rats…

    Face Masks In Sports

When beginning to learn how to throw and catch, this praised saying controlled the thoughts when thinking of a glove as the main protection shield from injury. Without having a face mask cover the player's entire face, there is no excuse for not seeing the ball since there is no plastic or metal bars blocking the directional path of the fast-moving yellow sphere. There is a common stigma that the player’s who wear the masks are afraid of the ball, stripping them of their identity as the tough, intimidating player they want to be known for. This also contributes to the myth that college coaches do not consider recruiting players with masks because of the common misconception, a mask means the athlete is scared of the ball. This is not always true, as college coaches recruit because of talent, and several other factors when thinking about a successful team. As long as the player is comfortable either way, the coach will always be looking out for the player’s well being no matter if the pitcher wears a mask or…

The baseball bat was broken when it was bought by the plaintiff. The plaintiff should return the baseball bat and have his money refunded to him. When the plaintiff bought the baseball bat from the defendant the baseball bat was already broken because as soon as the defendant used the bat to play baseball, the bat shattered into a million pieces. Shattering into a million pieces certainly violates the implied warranty of merchantability under the Uniform Commercial Code (UCC 2-314). No Industria De Calcados Martini Ltda. v.
