The tournament will be funded through our Title Sponsor (Expedia), Media Partner (Major League Baseball Network), and our secondary partners (Gatorade, Louisville Slugger, Enterprise, Puerto Rico Tourism Board). This event will attract alumni from the participating schools, college baseball enthusiasts, as well as the locals of San Juan, Puerto Rico. We expect around 15,000 people over this three day event which will also help bring in revenue in excess of $220,000 with the possibility for that number grow as more locals hear about the tournament. There are many famous people that live in America that were born in foreign countries. One foreign country that I am researching is the Dominican Republic. Most baseball players that play in the Major League Baseball known as the MLB come from countries like Dominican Republic and Cuba. One famous person that came from the Dominican Republic was Albert Pujols. Albert Pujols born as Jose Alberto Pujols Alcantara was born January 16, 1980. After being born in the DR Albert and his family moved from to America in 1996. In high school Albert Pujols was an allstar at baseball being selected to participate in the allstar game in all four years in high school. Few teams were interested in Pujols because of uncertainty about his age, which position he would play, and his build. Thus, he was not drafted until the 13th round of the 1999 Major League Baseball (MLB) Draft, when the St. Louis Cardinals selected him with the 402nd overall pick. During spring training in 2001, Mark McGwire told Cardinals ' manager Tony La Russa "If you don 't put Pujols on the roster for the 2001 season, it might be one of the worst moves you make in your career. As a baseball player Albert accomplished a lot of things to make him one of the best baseball players in history.…

Many of the tourists that come to the Dominican Republic described the locals as having a "mañana" attitude. The website, domicanrepublicindex.com states, "Most things do take longer here. People are more relaxed – it is the Caribbean, remember. The important thing is not to get annoyed too quickly. Showing your displeasure to a waiter or anyone else in a service industry is likely to get you less service rather than more. You'll get a much better response if you smile, stay friendly and use as much Spanish as you can" (Dominican Republic Culture). One of their most popular cultural events is held in August. It is called Higuey, Festival of the Bulls. Spain has a similar running; however, the one held in the Dominican Republic is a religious parade. The Dominican Republic's major holidays help define their culture. The World Travel Guide states, "The Dominican Republic's main holidays are: New Year's Day, Epiphany, Our Lady of Altagracia, Duarte's Birthday, Foundation Day of Santa Domingo, Our Lady of Las Mercedes, and Christmas" (230). To the locals in the Dominican Republic, baseball is not just the national sport, but a passion. Many of the athletes go on to play in the United States. It is very rare if a community in the Dominican Republic does not have a baseball stadium (World Travel Guide…

In today’s business, companies are doing their best to reach consumers through their minds and hearts using sponsorships as another way to promote their brands (Heismith, 1994). As defined by Cornwell et al. 2005), ‘’Sponsorships are a growing communication form, and are defined by a sponsor (i.e. a brand or firm) providing cash and/or other compensation in exchange for access to an object’s commercial potential (i.e. exposure and association with the cause, event, organisation or individual related to a sport, cultural, and/or non-profit entity)’’. Benett (1999) adds that, Sponsorships ‘’seek to achieve favourable publicity for a company and/or its brands within a certain target audience via the support of an activity not directly linked to the company 's normal business. Sponsorship itself of course, can take various forms ranging from a relatively crude level of financial support that has a limited association with the branding strategy of the sponsor and which might be said to border on the philanthropic (Gwinner and Swanson, 2003), to a far more elaborate integration within a brand strategy so that the relationship may be described as taking on a co-branding ethos (Motion et al., 2003). It also could be under different forms, tv advertisement and all types of visuals.’’…
