Barry Brothers Inspired Me
Have you ever had a hero? Well, I do. And you're going to learn about him. He had to work hard to get the job he has now in and before college. When he got his job he worked late into the night to keep it. Barry Brothers has inspired me through his work ethic to do the same things that he did. Through the years he showed me that hard work will pay off in the long run. In high school he worked on a neighbor's farm to get enough money to go to college. When winter would roll around he would go work at a factory. He always had things to do around his house so when he had the chance to go do something fun he could. To be able to get his job at Kelloggs he went to 3 different colleges. I mean that shows hard work will pay off. To be able stay in college he worked more than one job at a time. But like I said before to get to college he worked on a farm in the summer and in a factory in the winter. I have …show more content…
He does not work more than one job now but he still works hard. When he was in college out in Iowa he would study late for the tests he had to take to get the job he wanted. When he first got his job here in Michigan after everyone went to bed he would still be working. Sometimes he would even pick up extra projects there to make more money. Sometimes he couldn't leave until he got things done so he would have to stay late to work on them. I know that he still works hard to put food on the table so we can eat every night. All that and everything he does to this day is why he is my hero. Through everything he does inspires me to show my future children the same mindset and attitude about working. To get to college and when I’m in college and, beyond college I am going to work as hard as he did. Through everything he has helped me to do he showed me to make my dream my reality. He has and still is creating a lasting legend in my life. His work ethic has worn off on me and I will never forget

So, naturally, he did not do fantastic in high school which might as well have been a failure because that meant little to no scholarships. He settled at a community college and with a lack of financial support he sought out a job. Learning from his failures and using his resources he worked during the day and went to classes at night. My father transformed what was formerly a blue collar family…

At first we did not get along at all, but he never gave up on me. He was always there making sure I was making the right decisions and teaching me every painful lesson for making the wrong decision. I remember when I was 14 and I sort of ran away, but eventually got hungry and started riding my bike home. I got about half way there and sure enough he pulled up alongside me in the truck and all he said was “I’ll be waiting for you at home boy”. With only about 2 miles left it took me about 1 hour and a half. When I finally got there he knocked me off my bike and started teaching in his own way. This is by far…

The last reason he is my hero is he will always be one of the people I can ask a question to or just to come and hang out with. For example, last year I was helping him change the oil on his lawn tractor and he started it up and let it run for a couple of minutes. I got extremely confused, so I simply asked him why he was doing this. He explained how it is easier to change the oil when it is warm. That is just one more reason he is my Michigan hero.…

Despite the fact he may not have gone to school, the man certainly works hard. In the poem as he chops the rows off cotton, he is adding up the things he can buy for his family. He is definitely a selfless person as well because he is only adding up things he wants to provide for his family, milk, meat, bread, and full cupboards. There are no treats for himself that he talks about. The phrase "10 hours and then the cupboards creek" signals the end to his work day (the cupboards are full). After his workday he finally rests: Soto uses the simile "the minutes jerk like flies" to show that his day is slowing down after all his…
