I chose the book Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl. Beautiful creatures is about a 15- year old girl who has magical powers and will either turn dark or light on her sixteenth birthday. The main character is Lena Duchannes, a caster. Ethan Wate, Lena’s boyfriend tries to turn Lena light. The setting takes place in a small southern town of Gatlin South Carolina. The overall tone or mood of the story is romantic and mysterious. The point of view from which the story is told is first person and Ethan is telling the story. The theme of the story is not to let others pick your fate but for you to make the choice. The conflict of the story is Ethan and Lena trying to find a way to turn Lena light so they can stay together. Ethan Wate has brown hair, blue eyes, and is over six foot four. He has lived in Gatlin his whole life but wants to move away and travel the world. Ethan is also the star player on the Jackson high basketball team. An unusual quality about him is that he has some sort of power even though he is still a mortal. He is the only one who can protect Lena from Sarafine, a dark caster who tries to kill Lena. Something else about Ethan is that he had dreams about Lena before they even meet. In them Lena is always dying but in a very unusual way. She could drown and he would jump in to save her, he would wake up wet. Or Lena could be burning in a building and Ethan would wake up with burn marks on his clothes and covered in ashes. In his dreams he sees this girl he doesn’t know. All he knows is that she has black hair and dark green eyes like gems. He thinks he is going crazy, but then the girl in the dreams comes to town.

They where going to make passionate love while sleighing downhill. If they succeeded to finish they would leave to go to Florida and start over again. If they didn’t make it, they would crash on the elm tree and their fate would be in God’s hands. They started gaining speed but because Ethan wanted it to last he purposely slowed them down. Mattie was in ecstasy and wasn’t paying attention, since they both felt as if only the two of them existed in the world. Unfortunately, they crashed. They where like two eagles mating, who flew up high in the air, and let themselves fall, leaving their lives to fate alone. Only one thing was different in this occasion. The eagles of Starkfield never died. Mattie had passed out and was lying on the cold snow, but her face and hair were warm and full of life. For a moment, Ethan panicked, believing his beloved was dead, and he stood over her shouting, ‘Mattie Mattie I love you!’ He was desperately crying while Mattie slowly opened her beautiful eyes and moved her gorgeous eyelashes. Her glimmering eyes looked at Ethan and her luscious lips moved to form the phrase ‘I love you Ethan’. Ethan was relieved, however he knew that in order for them to survive and be happy together, they would first have to pass through Zeena.…

Throughout Macbeth there exists confusion as to what is real and what imaginary, and, for the most part, it is Macbeth himself who is confronted with these confusions. The question of whether or not the witches are real must be examined in relation to them. The three sisters are also capable of leading people into danger, often resulting in death as we see in the sailor who was never able to sleep (Act 1, Scene 3). The Witches first appear in the very first scene. They play very prophetic roles, where they predict the past and what the future holds for Macbeth. They appear with sounds of thunder and mysteriously disappear or are swallowed up in a mist. When the three witches predict the fate of Macbeth, it gives the audience a very valuable insight into the fate of Macbeth, making their prophecies a very significant precursor. “When the battles lost and won” (Act 1, Scene 1) was said by the second witch, which says that every battle is won by one side and by the other. Therefore, Macbeth’s fate could be seen as him winning one battle, but losing another, and as we see, he loses the battle of his…
