Balancing school and work
Balancing School with Work and Life Balancing work, school and life is a juggle that many of us find ourselves dealing with. It can be very challenging unless you find a way to make it work for you and your family. It’s not easy but in the end it will pay off and you will be very happy that you have completed your degree. I have tried many times to go back to school to get my degree. But I couldn’t settle on any particular major. First it was accounting and then criminal justice with a minor in astronomy. Then I took a break, went back to school, and started a new area of study as a paralegal. But then I had a lot of things go wrong in my life and just too much happening so I took time off again. When I decided to go back I tried online school and with the goal of becoming a veterinarian technician. I enjoyed this; however I lost my job soon after, so I was only able to complete one semester. After I got myself settled and found a new job, I really started to think about what I wanted to do with my life. I was working two jobs for a while and knew that I wanted more for myself. I also knew that I couldn’t go back to school and continue to work two jobs, because one was full time and the other part time. I was wearing myself out as it was and I knew if I tried to add classes, there was no way I could do it. So I took a step back and really thought about what I wanted. My manager at my full time job offered me a promotion to assistant manager. I jumped at the chance to take it. It helped me make a decision on what to do. I decided to go back to school for Business Management. I knew it wouldn’t be easy because I had so much going on in my life. I had six animals to take care of, trying to help my parents out with stuff that they need, my karate class, and just time for myself as well. I never thought it would be this hard to juggle everything. But I loved the challenge that going back to school would give me. I loved school and I loved to learn but I also had

Sometimes when I’m at work I start thinking of things that are due the next day at school, but still had not finished. It causes me not to concentrate at work and gets me worried thinking that I might not be able to finish on time.…

When I first started out going to school after college I thought that I wanted to be a teacher and so right after high school I started going to school to be an elementary teacher. I quit school because I wanted to move out of my parent’s house and be on my own so I got a full time job. After I moved and got stable I went back to get my early elementary degree. After about a year and a half I got pregnant and had my son and couldn’t go to class in the morning after being up all night with a toddler and then to work so I quit school again until my son got older. My son was able to start school when he was two so I decided to go back to school and get my educational degree. As I was going to school I was also volunteering at my son’s school and that is when I decided I really didn’t want to be a teacher and I was undecided what I wanted to do and I knew I was wasting my money and time going to school so I quit once again. I got a job at a temp agency working for the temp sending people on assignments and after a year the company decided they were going to close the company in my location but my supervisor got me a job at Advanced Radiology Services doing data entry putting in codes in the system. After a few years I realized that I really like being in the health care field and wanted a career in it and I tried to move up doing different jobs in the field but I realized that in order to really move up and eventually become a director I would need a degree so I decided to get my degree in Healthcare Management so I went back to school, this time determined to make it work.…

I began browsing through a few colleges trying to decide the best one to suit my situation. I felt as though I needed a game plan or should I say a guideline as to what steps I needed to take to accomplish the goals I had in mind. First, I browsed schools and realized that the University of Phoenix catered to parents and working people. This was the break I had been looking for. Second, I had to make the decision of being an online student or a campus student. Online would not have worked for me caused I could easily be distracted at times with family life. I decided it would be best if I was in a setting away from home. Third, I had to decide the career path or study I was going to follow. Of course, I chose to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Business Management with a concentration in Finance. Last but not least I had to choose a method of payment and establish a way to pay for this college tuition. This were all steps in the decision-making process in…
