Bain& Company,Inc. : la promoción a socio
1. “ el análisis de la oferta versus la demanda de talentos para ocupar posiciones de liderazgo debe estar alineado con la estrategia de la compañía”
Analiza el contenido de esta frase en relación al proceso de promoción de socio de Bain& company , Inc.

Cada empresa debe encontrar una armonía entre la oferta y demanda del número de directivos (en este caso socios) , y por ello paralela a su propia estrategia y perspectivas de futuro. En el caso, el proceso de promoción es minuciosamente analizado por diversos miembros de Bain and Co. Lo cual lo hace lo más objetivo posible, no sólo los miembros de la oficina local proponen a unos socios, sino que estos van a ser entrevistados por los miembros del comité y además recomendados por medio de cartas por los clientes con los que han trabajado. Así la oferta ,( en este caso los candidatos) y la demanda ( la necesidad de nuevos socios) va a requerir un punto de encuentro en este proceso , el cual va a llevar unos análisis;

    I am eager to apply for the Summer Intern position at the Dallas office of Boston Consulting Group. As I’ve learned over the past eight months at Revision Consulting, a company’s strategy determines success in the marketplace. As such, developing a corporate strategy and crafting operations to match, are high stakes processes that require both precise and high level thinking. As a consultant in Denver, I have worked closely with Denver International Airport and a variety of other governmental and privately held firms. In a project for Denver International Airport, I presented strategic direction that incorporated an extensive market size analysis with the financial data related to a potential technological improvement in airline gate asset sharing. By taking both financial data and market analysis into account, our team could recommend a target with the best potential opportunity for our client. In this case and numerous others across industries from automotive to governmental, I tied together valuable data and marketplace insights to develop…

    The Blackstone Group

    The Blackstone Group’s decision to file an initial public offering (IPO) involved the development of the compensation system, protection of the limited partners (LP), structure of the public ownership, and an accounting transition in order to alleviate problems that would arise. Blackstone was required to establish a new compensation package that addressed partners carried interests as well as compensation for investment professionals and staff members that allowed each party to be no worse off than they were before. In a solution to this problem a dynamic vesting structure was to be implemented that was unique to each business line. Additionally, Blackstone prevented the dilution of the LPs by offering a 10 percent stake in a general partner, therefore protecting the LP investments. Furthermore, through the use of a Master of Limited Partnership structure Blackstone was able to maintain their governance structure and maximize the LP’s interests. As the firm only conducted its accounting on a tax basis with different financials for each business line it would need to create firm-wide GAAP-compliant statements. In the process of creating compliant statements Blackstone would be required to incur a $17 billion future noncash charge (value of vesting shares issued to the firm’s existing owners and equity to employees) to their earnings. As a result Blackstone curbed this issue with the development of a metric called “economic net income” which showed portrays a more accurate earnings report excluding charges related to vesting shares.…

    Enron Corporation was formed in 1985, led by Kenneth Lay, as a result from the merger of Houston Natural Gas and Internorth that specializes in natural gases and commodities. In 1990, the company hires Jeffrey Skilling to lead the trading of commodities under deregulated market and Andrew Fastow later that year (USA Today, 2002). Deregulation of the energy markets allowed companies to place bets on future prices, and Enron was poised to take advantage (Investopedia.com). Skilling developed a staff of executives that, by the use of accounting loopholes, special purpose entities, and poor financial reporting, were able to hide billions of dollars in debt from failed deals and projects (Wikipedia). The expose started on August 2001 when Sherron Watkins, an Enron Vice president, write and meet with Mr. Lay expressing concerns about Enron’s accounting practice to result to “Implode in wave of accounting scandal” and on October 2001, Enron reported a third quarter loss of $618 million and solicited help from the US government official which includes the Federal Reserve chairman, Alan Greenspan, Treasury Officer Paul H. O’Neil but they did not succeed on getting any help. (New York Times, 2013). In November 2001, Enron admitted it overstated its profits dating back to 1997 at $600M and agreed to be acquired by Dynegy at $9B but later was called off leading to Enron filing to bankruptcy under Chapter 11 of the United State Bankruptcy code on December 2, 2001. SEC also extends investigation to cover Andersen. The bankruptcy led to the layoff of 4,000 employees wiping out their pension plans (theguardian.com, 2006). The company was on Fortune's "Most Innovative" in the United States listing for several years running and reached #7 on the Fortune 500 list in 2000. Its bankruptcy in December 2001 was the largest such filing in United States history (tshaonline.org,…
