Best and worst President United States has had a fair share of good and bad presidents in the history of its existence. I believe that there are many things that make a president a good president, but I think the key characteristics are clarity of vision, willingness to change, character, intelligence, and leadership. And in my opinion a president who best utilized these characters is Abraham Lincoln and the president who utilized them the worst is Warren Harding. I believe that clarity of vision is one of the main characteristics that make a president a good president. Abraham Lincoln had a clear vision when he went into presidency of what he wanted to achieve as the president.

Abraham Lincoln was a very intelligent man, both of his parents were illiterate but he had a desire to learn, so he did; he taught himself law. He didn’t have much formal education but he was more intelligent than a lot of the presidents. Warren Harding on the other hang came from a family of two doctors, he attended high school and college. Which would make him intelligent, but even with all of that education he wasn’t as smart as Abraham Lincoln. Another character that a good president must posses is leadership. Abraham Lincoln was a very good leader. He had a way with words; he had the interest and passion for words and he also had the ability to use language to express his views and to influence others. The Gettysburg Address is one of those examples, he wrote his speech himself and it was very moving to a lot of people. Warren Harding had a passive leadership style, which led to many problems in the cabinet. This didn’t make him a very good leader; he couldn’t even lead his own supporters. And it definitely didn’t make him as good of a leader than Abraham …show more content…
Its not to be a good leader, you have to have a good character. Abraham Lincoln came from humble beginnings, he worked hard to earn his law degree; this shows that he has a good character and that he is willing to work hard to get where he wants to be. He is also kind and compassionate, and honest man. All of these things makes his character stand out among all the rest of the presidents. Warren Harding on the other hand doesn’t posses many good presidential traits. He lied and cheated while he was in the office, and let his cabinet take advantage. He was also a pushover, he couldn’t say no, which also led to many people take advantage of him. These characteristics don’t make for a good

Leadership, like all traits, is not an inherent quality among men. A person is no more likely to be born a leader than they are to be born being able to read. Everything is taught. It is important to learn and understand from past leaders because it is their actions that guide the present leaders today. Lincoln’s legacy can be, and is understood, by countless generations who are inspired by his dedication and overwhelming…

Almost every child has heard the phrase, "You can grow up to be president someday." And part of that rings true, but is everyone really cut out to be president? What qualifies someone to be a good president? Sadly, not everyone can be president, and a good lot of people should never be put in any type of leadership role. A president should be compassionate, intellectual, and conviction. A man who I believe has all of these qualities is president Theodore Roosevelt, throw in animal magnetism, a sharp wit, and a sparkling personality and you have one of the best presidents our country has ever seen.…

A good president follows through with the promises made, during his campaigning, to better the society. James Knox Polk was an excellent president. Polk was successful while taking the role as president by fulfilling the promises he made. He promised expansion, which he was successful with. He promised to revive the Independent Treasury while also lowering tariffs, which he accomplished as well. But most importantly, Polk was successful in bettering his nation even when he did not always have a great amount of…

What makes a president great? A great president can be many things; for instance, they can lead their country, protect their country, avoid wars, have the personality that America loves, and he/she can lead their country the good times and the bad times. Ronald Reagan has been shot and survived through it, has avoided nuclear warfare between the US and Russia, and before all these events he is known for being an actor; not to mention the “only movie actor to become president.” (Reagan, Ronald W. 1) President Reagan is an extraordinary man; being president, avoiding war with foreign countries, a popular actor, and by playing a pivotal role in America’s economy.…

William Jefferson Clinton also known as “Bill” our 42nd president was a very good president for the most part. He was not a good president just because there was a surplus in the economy at the end of his eight year term but he kept the peace during his term. Though I was not around for much of his term I think he did a pretty good job at what he did. Clinton got many people interested in voting for him when he started talking about a family man in office. The people wanted a better economy so that was his ultimate goal to give the people what they want.…

He also ordered various agencies to harass activities and political figures. What keeps him from being the worst President is that his first term was filled with good policy choices. His administration embraced policies that transferred powers from the federal government to the states, and many other things. What hurt him the most was his second term that was nothing compared to the first and was considered a trainwreck and a…

George Washington, the First president of the uNited States, was one of those people. Even at an early age Washington displayed characteristics that would empower him to the presidency. The path was not an easy one it required perseverance, ingenuity, and compromise. He was driven by the desire to establish a solid foundation to the new democracy. To help achieve this goal Washington joined the militia and was soon recognized and respected as a leader. Washington was well respected by his peers, and this is why there was a movement afoot to appoint George Washington to the newly created position of President. Washington realized as president that being firm in his beliefs would not allow him to achieve his goals. He understood the need for flexibility and compromise in the positions in which he took. His love of country and the dislike of monarchies and his belief in a strong constitution being necessary to enable free men to govern themselves he dedicated himself to the presidency and to the country. He was the man who could have been a king but refused a crown and saved a…

Since the establishment of our Nation in 1776, we have had 44 Presidents of the United States of America. Of these 44 leaders, the most successful in my opinion was Bill Clinton, the 42nd President of the United States. Bill Clinton served our country for two terms from January 20, 1993 to January 20, 2001. During his administration the United States enjoyed more peace and economic well being than at any other time in its history. Bill Clinton’s accomplishments as President include the creation of millions of new jobs, the lowest unemployment rate in 30 years, the lowest crime rate in 26 years, the passing of the Brady Bill, going from a record budget…

A good leader is someone who constantly is honest with the people who he or she is surrounded by. A leader who is educated is able to evaluate other people's skills to have the ability to achieve their ideal goals. As many of us know, Barack Obama was the first African American United States President in the United States' history. I remember it was 2010 when Obama established a healthcare system called Obamacare. Obama is considered a good leader by continuously being plausible and an attentive person for almost eight years. Not only is he an attentive worker, but Barack also does other things to help our nation, such as visiting other countries around the globe. Obama uses humor in his speeches…

Leadership is a rare and important characteristic in a president. Being a president is all about leadership, leadership of the country, the nation, and the people want someone who is going to do a good job at that, not someone who is going to send the country into an economic depression. Congress is important because having the ability to control and persuade members Congress is extremely beneficial when it comes down to voting on bills and laws and certain things that Congress would put their foot down and say no to if the president did not have the ability to persuade…
