I want a better life in a good world for everyone Back in my earlier years as a young man twenty something, I viewed the world as my oyster, play ground, eating and being merry. I associated myself with a group of guys that were categorized as “pretty boys”. We ran the streets care free, after work of course, because we needed the most important tool there was to a bunch of young guys at that time, money, paper, cheddar, as we call it.
Many years passed by that were full of fun, laughter, heart ache, trouble, and hard times. Never the less; we made it through the years. Then one summer a close family member of mine was murder in his home when he opened the front door of his house. There was a knock at the door, and when he opened it he was shot in the head point blank and died instantly.
Not too long after, another close cousin was arrested for gun possession and distribution and sentenced to fifteen years in federal prison. The following summer I was involved in a bad car accident, which may I add was not my fault. I was hit by a stolen vehicle driven by two young men in their teens. Lucky, I made it out of that incident with just a few scratches on my foot. As I sat home along staring at the walls one day, it felt like an epiphany, but a voice speaking to me and I could hear it clear. Now read my word I heard, from that I envision, realized I wanted a better life in the world where there is peace, love, joy, and happiness.
First I pray asking God to forgive me of all my sins seen and unseen. Then God’s spirit empowers me to begin reading his word, the Holly Bible. As I recover from my injury it suddenly occurred to me, I would like to go back to school so that I can become economically independent, support myself and support those dependent on me. I envision in my world where every individual have the opportunity to a good meal every day. And while eating that good meal I want a world where every individual is in a good home that is warm and comfortable. I want a world where every person has equal opportunities to a good education. I want a world where everyone is treated fairly and equally and given full benefits to equal work as well as equal pay. I want a world where every individual has the chance to work and work anywhere they are qualified to work. I want a world where every single person has the right to go anywhere they want and not be hated because of their race, ethnicity, color, or culture. I want a world where every man, woman, boy, and girl is free to love who they want, and free to marry to any race of their chose. I want a world eradicated of hunger, selfishness, greed, poverty, and violence. If by chance I become president of the world it would be my responsibility to erase the world of ignorance and replace it with liberty, justice, and peace for all.

That was the day that my grandpa passed away. Every single part of that date is engrained in my memory. My parents had driven up to Wisconsin, and my older sister Lauren drove home for college to stay with me. It wasn’t out of the normal for my parents to quickly leave, so I didn’t think much of it. I remember going to hang out with Tatum, my best friend of the time. It was a nice day outside, so of course we were outside playing on the trampoline and doing all our weird routines like we always did. Her family, who was like a second family to me, decided to go out to eat so they brought me along. We went to La Charitas. I remember how Mrs. Teeple pulled out a funny card game for us to play, and I remember Tatum cutting out faces in her tortilla, making us all laugh. When we got back to the house we saw that my sister called, so I said bye to the Teeples and walked one minute down the road to my house. Lauren, who is one of the most emotional in the family, was left with the task of telling me that my grandpa had passed away. I had just grabbed a snack of chocolate cheerios as she started to tell me the news. I didn’t know how to react, so I ran into the basement directly to the furthest corner I could find. Lauren tried talking to me, but I wanted to be by myself. One of the hardest things I have ever done was talking to my dad on the phone after finding out. He called to tell me the plans, that he was coming home to get us, and…

I never thought me, of all people, would experience such a sorrowful day. I have tried to forget it time and time again; but the reality is I will always remember every miniscule detail, moment, word, and facial expression on that particular day. My heart managed to shatter into a million pieces, leaving me without a reason to pursue my existence. My salty tears freely rolled down my warm cheeks, causing my eyes to burn sensationally. I remember mourning on the comforting shoulders of my family members, as they too were consumed by their feelings. The most valuable lesson that beared a reservation in my spirit was to cherish every moment and loved one, for tomorrow is not guaranteed to anyone. I wish I could have fathom this reality before the climactic tragedy struck me like a ton of bricks. Although death is normal, it seemed almost foreign when it abducted the life of my favorite uncle.…

Copper, my dog that I had had since I was borne, was dying. I couldn’t believe my ears. I ran up to my living room and saw Copper lying on the floor. I remember the day well. I was just finished with school for the year and sitting on the front step, the top half of me laying back on the porch, just staring. I was thinking about the small house my mother worked so hard for us to get and keep. We lived in row housing just outside Juneau Alaska. All of the houses were small and I always thought to myself, “Is this the life I am destined for?” My mind wondered as I looked up at the clouds and squinted because of the sun.…

Ashley fell and we all thought she was joking around and would get up right before the train was close except she was literally stuck in the tracks and of course we were to far to go back and get her. It was my idea to run because I thought she was kidding. Now if I really knew she was stuck I would of went back for her. So whenever the same group of friends goes with me to the rope swing, we all stop and sit for a few minutes in silence. Ashley still exists in my heart and still is when I’m with those friends.…

After that day, I came to realize that life is too precious to be taken for granted. I try to take each day and make it worthwhile.
