| START-UP PROCEDURE (SUP)PURPOSE AND SCOPEThis procedure provides the conditions for the start-up of the Turbine- Generator of Bacman I for the following conditions: * Cold Start-up; * Warm Start-up; and * Hot Start-upThe procedure covers the activities required in the start-up of the power facility from cold, warm or hot conditions, establishment of power generation with the generator synchronized to the grid and recovery from power facility trip-outs to normal operation. DEFINITIONSCold Start-up – refers to the sequence of operations to be performed for starting up the turbine when the initial turbine metal temperature is almost equal to the ambient temperature. This condition usually happen if the turbine is shut down 4 to 6 days after a high-load operation.Warm Start-up - refers to the sequence of operations to be performed for starting up the turbine when the initial metal temperature is almost equal to 100 degree centigrade. This condition usually happen if the turbine is shut down thirty six hours after a high-load operation.Hot Start-up - refers to the sequence of operations to be performed for starting up the turbine when the initial metal temperature is above 100 degree centigrade. This condition usually happen if the turbine is shut down twelve hours or less after a high-load operation. | BACON-MANITO GEOTHERMAL INCORPORATEDBacon, Sorsogon – Manito, Albay, Philippines T A B L E O F C O N T E N TS | PROCEDURE ID | TITLE | INDEX | BMGP/SUP-01 | COLD START-UP OF THE TURBINE GENERATOR | SUP-01 | BMGP/SUP-02 | WARM START-UP OF THE TURBINE GENERATOR | SUP-02 | BMGP/SUP-03 | HOT START-UP OF THE TURBINE GENERATOR | SUP-03 |

Heat is continually produced there, mostly from the decay of naturally radioactive materials such as uranium and potassium. The most common current way of capturing the energy from geothermal sources is to tap into naturally occurring "hydrothermal convection" systems where cooler water seeps into Earth's crust, is heated up, and then rises to the surface. When heated water is forced to the surface, it is a relatively simple matter to capture that steam and use it to drive electric generators. Geothermal power plants drill their own holes into the rock to more effectively capture the…

“The babalawo’s method of ministering to patients seemed, at the beginning, esoteric, compared to the government- and missionary- run clinics that we normally patronized, yet it did not take too long for me to begin to detect and voice out (strictly among us sibling delinquents) certain familiar features of the babalawo’s curative methods.” A Babalawo is a traditional healer who wards off evil through spiritual forces. In “Of Africa” the Babalawo was the neighborhood healer. However, many of the neighborhood people did not appreciate the duties of the healer because everyone in the Babalawo’s house were pagans. The Babalawo performed consultations than provided the medication to help heal his patients. The Babalawo’s clinic was a place to obtain any herbal concoction that consisted of tree roots, oils, astringent and bark. His healing potions were used for various reasons from cramps to fevers, etc. The Babalawo had conviction in his patients as much as his patients had conviction in him. The patients had a strong firmly belief in him even though he was ridiculed by the neighborhood. He is compared to European doctors but somehow he was better. He was able to ally the patient, physically, to forces within the entirety of his or her healing culture. These certain occurrences does not only happen in the motherland continent, let us take flight over seas to the continent of North America. The country that contains many cultures, races, and ethnicities- the melting pot United States of America.…

    Copper Porphyry

Hydrothermal solutions are transported with heat supplied by the magma and slowly lost as the solution moves through rocks (Bateman, 1967). With the proper temperatures (300-500̊) and pressures the copper enriched solution heated by the magma is driven up to shallower depths in the crust. The subducting tectonic activity helps drive this process with ground water acting on the copper solution from convective circulation creating a porphyry deposit. The ore solution must contain metal and sulfur in molecular species in concentrations sufficient enough to form a porphyry copper deposit (Bowen and Gunatilaka,…

The techniques of reheating, regenerating, inter cooling require installation of additional heavy machinery which is not economically feasible. Apart from these power augmentation techniques, which could be applied to existing gas turbines, can be divided into two main categories. The first category includes inlet air cooling technique and the second involves techniques based on injection of compressed air, steam or water. Since, our objective, in this paper is to study inlet air cooling technique, we will only review techniques employed in the first category.…

Chapter 4. Dimension Reduction In this chapter we describe the important step of dimension reduction. The dimension of a dataset, which is the number of variables, must be reduced for the data mining algorithms to operate efficiently. We present and discuss several dimension reduction approaches: (1) Incorporating domain knowledge to remove or combine categories, (2) using data summaries to detect information overlap between variables (and remove or combine redundant variables or categories), (3) using data conversion techniques such as converting categorical variables into numerical variables, and (4) employing automated reduction techniques, such as principal components analysis (PCA), where a new set of variables (which are weighted averages of the original variables) is created.…

Hence, the temperature is supposed to be observed on a regular basis regardless of the manufacture phase. The same solution can be applied to the excessive use of water for recycling. Besides that, however, operation manager and related personnel are responsible for a reasonable calculation of water consumption per working cycle. In this case, a zero approach is required: a pilot round should be conducted with no water and then with a little amount so that it could be possible to indicate the most apt amount on the basis of comparison (Basu & Wright 2005). As for the excessive torque of the main engine, it has to be indicated that it should be set at the initial stage of the maintenance. The maintenance manager is responsible for the starting data so that torque could be regulated in advance. The best solution to such problem is the initial choice of an asset with needed engine torque. Regarding the overloading of the asset, the amount and frequency of loads are usually controlled by operation manager as long as he or she is expected to make the best judgement of the schedule, capacity of the asset and economy considerations. On the contrary, the performance with a little load but the same parameters is an evident result of the employee’s failure to report about minimal load and set the relevant parameters. The…

    liquid resistance starter

The EPMA rotor starter is used to control the starting of a slip ring (wound rotor induction) motor. The starting current is generally limited to a maximum of 250% Full Load Current. Optimal starting torque for each application is selected by the choice of the initial value of resistance. The principle of the liquid starter is that of a secondary resistance starter, where by the rotor resistance is reduced to a minimum during the starting period. This type of starter is designed to provide the optimum starting characteristic, which results in smooth progressive acceleration to full load speed.…
