A doula is a Greek word referring to a trained lay attendant. Doulas can also be referred to as labor companions, labor support specialists, labor support professionals, birth assistants, or labor assistants. A doula can also be childbirth trainer who can provide emotional, physical, and educational support to a mother. The doula’s purpose is to help women have a safe, memorable, and empowering birthing experience. A relationship between the doula and the mother begins a couple of months before the baby is due. During pregnancy, the mother can ask any questions to the doula.She can also express her fears and concerns and creates a plan. During delivery, the doula will stay with the mother throughout labor and delivery, by talking to them,
