Organisations such as the public services can only run effectively if authority is working at all levels. There are many types of authority which are used in a variety of situations, and at a variety of levels. In some situations if lives are at risk there is no time for discussion, the leader will say what needs doing and the subordinates will do it. On another level there will be situations where the person in authority might appreciate some advice and consult other team members, before making a final decision.…

In human culture throughout the centuries there have been a select few gifted souls that have graced this earth. Each one special in there own way and talented beyond what the world has ever seen before. In the book My Name is Asher Lev we encounter one of these incredible prodigies. Asher’s story is similar to many other talented individuals in that he is raised in circumstances that seem less than suitable for a budding talent. This is a typical problem for the gifted because they do not view the world the same as others who may be close to them view it. It is a monumentally different place to the gifted.…

judge would do this by writing general warrants, which allowed general search and seizure to happen. Massachusetts wrote a law in 1756 that banned these warrants, because tax collectors were abusing their powers by searching the colonists’ homes for illegal goods. These general warrants allowed any messenger or officer to search a suspected place without any evidence. It also allowed them to seize people without even saying what they did wrong or showing evidence of their wrongdoings. Virginia also banned the use of general warrants later due to other fears. Then on December 15,1791 the Fourth Amendment was added into the Bill of Rights…

We often assume that the quick conversations with a stranger in the grocery store or a shopping mall are just that, quick conversations that are soon forgotten. We don’t expect them to profoundly impact our lives or even change who we are. Elisa Allen in John Steinbeck’s “The Chrysanthemums” was not expecting any visitors while cutting down the old year’s chrysanthemums, much less a visitor that would deeply impact her and her feelings. Her character starts out as a strong woman and ends in tears.…

In My Name Is Asher Lev, Chaim Potok tells of a young man and his troubling family dynamic. Lev holds a prodigious artistic ability, an ability which is both marginalized by his family, due to their conflicting religious convictions, and the subject of great inner strife for Asher as a result. The Lev household’s patriarch, Aryeh Lev, has a deep rooted dedication to the teachings of a Chabad-esque scholar and leader of the Ladover Jewish movement, simply known to his supporters as “the Rebbe”, a dedication he shared with his late brother-in-law who died on business for the Rebbe. His work for the Rebbe and his various initiatives bring both Asher trouble in deciding whether to pursue his gift and passion or stay true to his religious upbringing, and Aryeh’s wife, Rivkeh, anxiety over Aryeh’s fate potentially turning out to be like her late brother’s. Much of the family’s life is shrouded by the enigmatic “Rebbe”, a man whose words influence Asher’s father to dedicate his life to unifying the Judaic diaspora and providing unity to a considerably wounded community and indirectly fuels the animosity between Asher and his father, among other things. The devotion to the Rebbe in the novel symbolizes the various effects a religious movement can have on a family’s dynamic or in a community as a whole -- reverence or alienation in both settings are roads young followers are supposed to choose between at some point, as was in the case of Asher. In My Name Is Asher Lev, the cult of personality that develops behind the Rebbe and his movement symbolizes both the various benefits and strains of a centralized religious movement in a variety of settings.…

Air Arabia is a cost efficient airline that currently operates a total fleet of 23 aircraft, serving 65 routes from three hubs in Morocco, UAE, and Egypt. It hopes to expand to cover many areas of the world such as Europe and the Indian subcontinent and increase its fleet to over 50 by 2015 solely without working with any other companies. It is obvious that Air Arabia is utilizing the concentration growth strategy; the concentration growth strategy focuses on its primary line of business and increases the number of products offered or markets served in that primary business. As we can see, Air Arabia is both increasing its products (by increasing its fleet) as well as its markets (by expanding to other areas of the world).…
