Avian Influenza is an infection caused by the avian influenza A viruses. It can occur naturally among birds. Both domestic and wild avian can attain it. Wild birds worldwide get influenza A infections in their intestines, but usually don’t get sick. However, it’s very contagious among birds, and some of the viruses can make them very sick and kill them.

It’s relevant because the influenza A, that is very contagious also can affect domesticated birds, such as, turkeys, chickens, ducks, etc
