Traditionally, women decide that they are ready to have a baby; therefore, they will achieve this goal within weeks of trying to conceive. First, the mothers will being to question things such as will she be a great mother, how will the baby look, and how long will the labor last? Then, the mother will become excited over the thought of having a tiny human being growing inside of her. Finally, 38 weeks later, the mother delivers a healthy baby boy. At the beginning, the baby boy reaches all the baby milestones and then he changes suddenly. The mother would make funny faces at her son, and he would not show any response. Confused and frustrated over the change of the baby boy behavior, his mother seeks professional help. The mother later found out her baby is suffering from Autism. Autism is an affliction that is relatively unknown to the general population. Because of the unknown reason why autism develops, it is important for people to become educated about this particular illness. Only thorough understanding will help people to overcome their natural tendency to ridicule what they do not comprehend. Autism is a rare childhood disorder most often associated with severe intellectual disabilities, lack of social awareness and the absence of meaningful expressive language (Lotter, 1996). There are two main types of autism: Asperger Syndrome (AS) and Pervasive Developmental Disorders-Not Otherwise Specified (PDD-NOS), also known as highly functional autism. The difference between the two types of autism is cognitive function. Children that suffer from Asperger syndrome have different brain formalities than those who suffer from autism. Hence they reason why the two illness differ. The children that suffer from AS is more likely to have a normal and productive live than low-functioning autism.
