Australian Terrier History
They will need about 30 minutes of exercise every day. They like apartment living as long as they get exercise and play time.

The Australian Terrier
These dogs are loving, determined and strong. They love to please their owners. They have a working nature, so they are great on ranches and farms. They have great hearing end eyesight. They make great watchdogs.

They will weigh 9 to 14 pounds and are 9 to 11 inches. They are a small working terrier. Their coat is coarse and is usually sand, blue, tan and red color. Their tails are usually docked. They can live t be 15 years old.

They will need to be brushed once a week. The hair around their ears and eyes will need to be trimmed. Do not give them a bath unless they really need it.

They were developed by a Czechoslovakian, who wanted to develop a dog that had a narrow body so they would be able to get foxes and rats in their dens and burrows. In the late 1980s the Cesky Terrier was crossed with the Sealyham terrier. They did not come to the United States until 1987. They are said to be a rare breed. It was thought by some in 1972 that their were only 150 Cesky Terriers in the United States.

The Cesky Terrier were first used for tracking, hunting, guard dog and watchdog. At times the Cesky Terrier is called the Bohemean Terrier. The Cesky Terrier has a mustache and beard. They usually have a black nose but they can be liver color. The Cesky Terrier is born black but their coat will turn to gray shades by the time they reach 3 years old.

They are friendly with strangers so they are not good watchdogs. They will need a lot of exercise. They enjoy playing games with their family. The German Hunt terrier must be socialized and trained when they are young.

They are also called the German Jag. They have existed for over a century. They were developed in German in the 20th century to be hunting dogs. In later years these dogs came to North America,. Sportsmen used the German Hunt terrier to dig into burrows for prey.

The Lakeland Terrier
The Lakeland Terrier dog is a native of England. The Lakeland Terrier dog was originally used to protect sheep from foxes. They also hunted rats in the mountains. They are very loyal and brave dogs.

The Lakeland Terrier dog has a wiry coat. They are usually solid colors like black blue, liver, wheaten and red. Some of them will have a saddle mark on their back. Their wiry coats will need regular grooming and trimming.
