Auggie's Character Analysis
Auggie make a lot of new friends during his days in Bleecher Prep.I sure these friends made Auggies a good impact in this life. He found out that people would still like him even if Auggies face is messed up.’’this huge eighth grader who was zooming down the stairs two steps at a time accidentally bumped into us at the bottom of the stairs and knocked me down. As the guy helped me stand up, he got a look at my face, and without even meaning to, he just said: “Whoa!” Then he patted me on the shoulder, like he was dusting me off, and took off after his friends. For some reason, me and Jack started cracking up.”(83 of 318).This quote shows you that because Auggie had jack with him Auggie didn’t care what the eighth grader did Jack and Auggie just …show more content…
You might say that this would have a bad impact on Auggies, but I say that knowing this fact would have good impact on Auggie. Auggie knows it’s ok to not get what you want and that's how life works.“Zombie Kid yet?” Stuff like that gets around fast. And August knew it. It’s hard enough being the new kid even when you have a normal face. Imagine having his face?”(149 of 318). This quote is important because this shows that Auggie wants a normal face and going Bleecher Prep made that fact apparent, but Auggie has gotten used to the fact that he has cleft palate and people will make a weird face at him. The most Important that Auggie took away from Bleecher Prep was That no matter what he should stay optimistic. Augie's life is hard with his cleft palate so from his school he learned to stay positive no matter what life throws at him.“first time I can remember, I wasn’t even thinking about my face. I was just smiling a big fat happy smile”
(364 of 381).This quote shows how Auggie stays optimistic and in the end it pays of Auggie honestly could care less about how he he just knows he is happy. He is happy even after his first interaction with Julien or the time in the wood even after that Auggie stay positive, and I think that was a good impact that Bleecher Prep had on

She makes it so it’s a mystery she never describes what his face actually look like but it does say “I won’t describe what I look like. Via is August’s big sister and is very caring towards Auggie and is extremely protective of him. Via helps the reader get a better understanding of what August looks like and what he’s like at home. An example for this is when via says, “His eyes are about an inch below where they should be, about half way down his cheeks. They slant downward at an extreme angle, like diagonal slits down his face. His eyelids sag so much you can see the red in his eyes. It looks like a piece of invisible string pulling his eyelids down. He doesn’t have eyebrows or eye lashes and his nose is far to big for his face. He doesn’t have cheek bones and people sometimes assume he’s been burnt in a fire because all his features are melted. He has a few scars because of all the surgeries his upper teeth splay out. A piece of his hip bone was put into his jaw and he has no chin at all”. The author put this in the novel because it makes he reader think how hard it would be to have a face like that and can’t help feeling sorry for him.…

The book Wonder has definitely changed my perspective. Before reading this book if I saw someone like Auggie I would have definitely reacted differently. The character I think I would have reacted similar to would be Charlotte. In the book August says when he meets Charlotte “she gave me a quick wave, a smile, and said nice to meet you”. If I were to meet someone like Auggie I probably would have done something similar. Normally when meeting someone I would shake his or her hand but I would most likely be a little shy around someone like August. Charlotte was trying her best to be nice to Auggie but she didn’t become friends with him, I would most likely do the same and stay my distance when I wasn’t forced to be with him. Charlotte wasn’t necessarily unkind to Auggie she just didn’t become one of his close friends, another thing I would have done.…
