AUDI

Introduction
The AUDI emblem of the four rings denotes one of the Germany’s oldest automobiles manufactures. It symbolizes the merger in 1932 of four previously independent motor vehicles manufactures i.e AUDI DKN HORCH and WANDERER. These companies are the foundation stones of AUDI AG.
This company is established by AUGUST HORCH in ZWICKOU on july16, 1909. He couldn’t take again its founder’s name for reason of fair trade. Horch found a new name by translating his name, which means “hark”. “Listen”, into Latin. So it was that the second company to have been set up by August Horch commenced operations under the name Audi Automobilwerke GmbH, Zwickau, on April 25, 1910
At the end of the 19th century, there were already a number of car manufacturers in Germany. One of them was August Horch & Cie., founded on November 14, 1899 in Cologne. August Horch was one of the pioneer figures of automotive engineering. Before setting up business on his own, he worked for Carl Benz in Mannheim for three years as Head of Production.

In 1904, August Horch relocated his company to Zwickau and transformed it into a share-issuing company. However, in 1909 August Horch withdrew from the company he had founded, and set up a new enterprise under the name of "Audi".
Audi has been a majority owned (99.55%) subsidiary of Volkswagen Group since 1966, following a phased purchase of AUDI AG's predecessor, Auto Union, from Daimler-Benz.[11]Volkswagen relaunched the Audi brand with the 1965 introduction of the Audi F103 series.

Volkswagen (abbreviated VW) is a German automobile manufacturer that was founded on the 28th of May 1937. The company was originally founded by the Nazi Trade Union known as the German Labour Front. At the time the majority of cars being manufactured in Germany were luxurious models that were very expensive. Adolf Hitler, the Chancellor of Germany, decided to sponsor the construction of a new state-owned factory that could produce a car that had a price similar to that of a small motorcycle. The factory was built in Wolfsburg in 1938 and the prototype of the first Volkswagen car was designed by Erwin Komenda. It was the original car to have the shape of what would be become the iconic Beetle. The intention was to get Germans to take part in a savings scheme to pay for these cars, 336,000 people saved enough to be eligible but unfortunately none of them ever received their car as their savings were stolen during World War 2 and only a handful of the cars were ever produced. Following World War 2 the factory came under British control and was used to produce 20,000 cars to be used as light transport for the British Army and the German post office. By 1946 the factory was producing 1000 cars a month and avoided being dismantled and moved to Britain as part of war reparations because British car manufacturers deemed the cars “quite unattractive to the average buyer”. In 1948 Volkswagen came under the control of West Germany and began to sell in other countries, by 1951 sales of the Volkswagen Beetle had reached 1 million units. Volkswagen sales continued to increase globally and in 1972 their Beetle make became the most-produced single car make in history. During the early 1970s Volkswagen saw a decline in sales so to combat this they began to produce new models. The first was the Passat in 1973 followed by the Sirocco in 1974 and the Golf in the same year. In the 1980s sales decreased in the…

In 1886 Carl Benz developed the world’s first automobile, the 3-wheeled “Benz PatentMotorwagen”. At the same time, Gottlieb Daimler, who never met Carl Benz in person, despite the fact that they only lived 100 km apart, produced the world’s first 4-wheeled automobile. From the very beginning, both men were committed to very high quality standards (“the best or nothing”), a prevailing characteristic that is still highly valued. With Deutsche Bank playing an important role, Daimler Motorengesellschaft and Benz & Cie. merged in June 1926 to create Daimler-Benz AG. World War II, in which…

Bavarian Motor Works or as most people know it (BMW) is one of the most prestigious automobile manufacturers in the world. But they didn’t get there reputation from most models, in fact it was the cars from the last two decades that BMW really got known for their automobiles. the history of the marque stretches back almost 90 years and contains numerous achievements that have established it as a benchmark. The origins of BMW trace back to 1913 when Karl Friedrich Rapp, a Bavarian who had been a well-known engineer in a German aircraft company. The company specialized in airplane engines however Rapp found that they were problematic and suffered from excessive vibration. Nearby, Gustav Otto, also an airplane specialist, set up his own shop, Gustav Flugmaschine Fabrik, building small aircraft. Because of the faulty engines, Rapp Motorenwerke secured a contract with Austro-Daimler, who was unable to meet its demands, to build V12 Aero engines under license. The company expanded too quickly, however, and by 1916 Rapp resigned from the company because of financial troubles. In his place Franz Josef Popp and Max Friz, two Austrians, took over the company. In March that same year, Rapp Motorenwerke merged with Gustav Flugmaschine Fabric to form Bayerische Flugzeugwerke. It was shortly afterwards renamed Bayerische Motoren Werke (Bavarian Motor Works), or BMW, forming the company we know today.…
