Atrial Septal Defect
Only 1,966 people our born with atrial septal defect (A.S.D.) each year. That is less than the amount of people in columbus by a huge margin. That does not mean it is not serious disorder. This is when there is an opening in the wall between the heart. This disorder can cause over flowing blood in the lungs and problems pumping blood through the body. These can lead to right side heart failure.
Atrial Septal Defect is a rare disease, to get a full grasp on the subject you must understand how the heart works.The blood goes into the top of the heart and go down to the lungs to get oxygen then goes back up the other half of the heart. A.S.D. is there is an opening near the top where the blood exit’s and blood fall’s though and goes back …show more content…
There our two ways to treat A.S.D. Poor appetite, fatigue, shortness of breath and lung problems and infections, such as pneumonia our the symptoms, swelling anywhere in the lower body, skipping a heartbeat. People with A.S.D. will have some of symptoms .These symptoms usually go away after treatment. The most popular way to Atrial Septal Defect is by surgery to seal the opening. If the hole is big they will patch up the hole while if it is small they will plug up the hole and the skin in the heart will grow around it. Many people usually treated at a young age and there our usually no side effects. Many people get treated for ASD at a young age and have no problems. For most procedure the patient will only have to stay overnight after the operation. People with ASD look the same and ack the same mostly before and after operation. Many people will go through life as normal after treatment for A.S.D.. A small group of people have ASD. It is very easy to treat. This disease is easy to treat no side effects of the treatment. The sides effects of ASD our minimal. Sometimes the disease can even heal itself. This is not a big problem in
